A CRAZY Night

A picture says a thousand words, no?

What does The opening night of the Canadian Film Festival, Possible Worlds at the Chauvel Cinema and a Lighting Company's Christmas Party have in common? Nothing.

I rushed my little self to the Chauvel after what could only be regarded as a huge day! Free drinks and nibbles before the movie and a really cool jazz band playing.

It was a delightful little movie (read Cibby's review).

The movie finished and in all honesty I was looking forward to bed. Then there was a phone call. Then there was a door.We went through after much hesitation... A free glass of bubbly and finger food. A huge auditorum full of good looking people?

We crashed a workplace Christmas Party!

My profession for the night was 'A Project Manager'... 'Project Administration' hehehehe...

A night I'm sure we'll all remember (or have fuzzy memories of) for the sheer randomness of the night.

The Best Dinner

Dad took me out to dinner for my birthday, we went to Rocket, he also pre-ordered the dessert.. Okay let me break it down:

- Starter: A leak soup which was absolutely divine
- Entree: I had Cured King Salmon with Shaved Fennel, White Nectarine & Limoncello sorbet topped with cavier that popped at precisely the right time
- Main: Rare Roasted New Zealand Venison with Caramelised Witlof; Lemon & Soy Vinaigrette
- Dessert: Chocolate and Baileys Souffle

We shared a couple bottles of wine, to top off the delightful dinner I had Cognac - I found out that night. I don't like Cognac :-P

My Birthday

My party was awesome! I ended up finding a little nook snuggled into RR all night to the early hours.... This resulted in me coming home at some random hour the next morning 'My birthday' well mother dearest wasn't impressed and said she wasn't coming to lunch anymore - yes, my birthday lunch.

Just after midday I was dressed and about to leave when I asked mother if she was serious. I met my sister and nephew for lunch at Prague. Mother didn't come.

That night I had dinner with a few of my closest friends at aBlaze. L's boyfriend secretly ordered a birthday cake *gush gush*.

A day I'll always refer to as 'colourful'.

Happy Birthday To Me

All the sex kittens and cool cats were out in force to celebrate my last 20 something birthday.

HM organised the venue, so me, a piano bar - Conservatory Bar at The Sheraton on the Park. I have fuzzy memories of sipping Bollinger, 10 second conversations and overwhelmed by the wonderfulness of my friends...

Special thanks to S who took me camera out of my handbag (ha! my, its my mums Dunhill Crocodile that i'm almost too scared to use). I'm hopeless with photos. I wont have any pictures to look back on when I'm older.

You know its a good night when you end up at

The Last Night Of The World

Last night I was taken to Miss Saigon as a birthday present from one of my girlfriends. Press Play while reading

This link is with the cast of the Sydney now playing at the Lyric Theatre Set during the final days leading up to the American evacuation of Saigon. Where love develops between an American GI and a Vietnamese woman. Emotions running high, teary eyed in most parts.

The movies in my mind
Two weeks of love, a love unparalleled. The extreme circumstances of Vietnam during the 70's. American Dreams and wishing the best at any length for a child.

Music that evokes emotion. I can't put into words...

MISS SAIGON lyrics

A beautiful production, the voices and music sensational. If you were ever considering seeing this musical now is the time to do it. And Chris (David Harris) isn't bad on the eye either *smiles*

The Matrix Bird and Silent Ninja's!

+ Spent over 6 hours in the sun waiting for cement to be poured

+ You know those contractors you see standing on the side of a road not doing anything wearing a hard hat, bright yellow or orange (mine was yellow) protective vest, ear plugs and steal cap boots. That was me all day Monday.

+ I have been teased for having 'a farmers tan'.

+ I participated in a Geological Field Trip over Tuesday and Wednesday which entailed climbing rock, looking at rocks, touching rocks and climbing rocks.

+ Birds are very odd creatures. Witnessed a long tailed bird just hovering just over the cliff face - The Matrix Bird!

+ Lunch was at Coolangatta Vineyard. The greatest tasting plate complemented by

+ I have been nicknamed 'Diva 2' by my boss, whooo hooo I'm not the most diva-ish!

+ Dinner with work colleagues on Tuesday night was at a gorgeous quaint restaurant Seagrass Brasserie. The food was divine, Butterflied Roasted Quail with Celeriac Puree & Mediterranean Capsicum Jam for entree followed by delicious Seared Ocean Trout Fillet with an Asparagus & Macadamia Salsa and Spanner Crab Aioli and dessert... I ordered a limon and lime tart and went halves with one of the Geo's wicked nutty chocolate. After finding the website I now know why.

+ Apparently I now have the respect of many of my colleagues based on my alcohol consumption. Well lets see the count. Ha lost count of white wine that was continuously filled during the evening. Dessert wine. It was time to go, 3/4 bottle of Cab Sav but, one catch no glasses... I was sharing the wine 'out of the bottle' with a couple of the guys. Buy wait there's more. I ended up sitting on the balcony of the 'big bosses' hotel room with a bottle of wine from the vineyard with a couple of the Geo's, everyone hammered! Some of the guys from the plant sneaking into the room NINJA!

+ People were talking about me on the trip - I was told to 'be careful, just be careful'

+ We went on a cruise to see cliff faces for the detailed rock formations dolphins and whales. Ohhh too hungover to be on the sea. We went past the heads onto the open sea Arhhh!

+ I was looking forward to coming home. Plans to see RR. I introduced him to semi- traditional Czech Cuisine. He likes. We shared a bottle of red and went back to his place for House and Prison Break... Another late, late night. Must stay in tonight. Must.

Little private notice - Wal: email me re Sat night. natsmirror@gmail.com its my b'day, would love you to be there. I forgot to get your details from V.

Aussie Acoustic Rock

Press Play while reading, its one of my favourite Aussie rock songs...

I went to my first ever concert at The Metro. Its a Sydney Institution and its taken me 28 years (well realistically 10).

Mark Seymour from Hunters and Collectors and James Raine, it doesn't get much more Aussie than that. Brilliant husky voice, goose bumps and singing along to almost every song.

Loved it.

Elvis V's Elton

Sometimes things...

- Melbourne Cup this year felt like such a non-event. I didn't have any plans nor invitations to go anywhere. My workplace ran a sweep and refreshments in the conference rooms. After the day before (food poisoning where I spent hours on Monday evening laying on the bathroom tiles just trying to keep cool) food and alcohol were not appetitesing.

- I had 2 consecutive alcohol free days, have a glass of faux champers on Melbourne Cup followed by another 2 alcohol free days. I feel a little more human.

- Wednesday morning my boss told me to 'pack up your desk and just get out of here' its what I needed I was getting frustrated. I spent the day down at the plant. I've booked in for my first day of the rig for Monday.

- I booked my birthday party venue with the assistance of HM, a big thank you. A jazz band and cocktails - bliss.

- After RR came to see me at the party on Saturday night(he has been nick names by Adelberto but I don't like the name he's allocated). We didn't have any plans to see each other until Friday. I was looking forward to it for 3 days. So impressed the novelty hasn't been lost.

- I made a mess of RR's kitchen last night. Yep, that's right. I cooked for him. He bought the wine... The wine we had on our first date, he gave a lingered look to see if I noted. He is impressing me.

- Take 2 we didn't make it to the movies after dinner. We ended up singing along with The Piano man and debating who is the better artist Elvis or Elton. After lots of wine we decided to conduct a poll at the lounge bar. Poll: Elvis or Elton???

- I got home today at midday and can't seem to wipe this grin from my face.

- This afternoon I received a phone call from a girl I've met once had only a couple of email communicant' she has invited me out to a concert tonight as she has a spare ticket. How awesome, this morning I was saying I wasn't overly interested in going to a house warming.

Happy days...

2 out of 3

The party season is hot on my doorstep with 3 birthday celebrations to attend in one night. All in the one suburb. Awesome.

First celebration was for the wonderful and beautiful Bec, we had drinks at The Bourbon – I LOVE happy hour! Even better when even its happy hour others are buying drinks. Pizza and faux champers with great friends. Bliss

It was already 11.00pm and I was supposed to be at party number 3. I dropped into party number 2 at The Lincoln, my entourage in tow. Seeing some familiar faces, some I haven’t seen for over a year. The music pumping accompanied by a saxophonist… Love it.

After about 20 minutes of mingling I bumped into some of my friends that were supposed to be at party number 3. The venue line up was too long and it was still raining, I thought to hang back a while… Apparently Bayswater Brassierie wasn’t letting anyone else into the venue, I’m happy were I was (and got happier) I tried out a pick up line in favour of one of my friends ‘Haaaave you met S…?’ It felt so fun. Must try that again some time.

I was almost ready to call it a night, many glasses of faux champers, I think 7 and the best, all bought for me! My phone buzzed, RR, within no time at all he was there, it was late, I was tipsy. I remember kissing him, I remember people leaving, I remember dancing and kissing. I remember smiling, I remember saying good night, I remember him finding a cab for me, I remember that smile from inside taxi window. I remember going to bed wishing he was next to me...

* yes kids for those of you counting, I’ve seen him several times this week but no future plans…

Tapas and Sangria

I met RR (I still don't have a nick name for him!) we went out for Tapas and Sangria. Such yummy food, great sangria, I'm enjoying his company... I’m enjoying his company more each time I see him….

After dinner we went back to his place to watch Prison Break *smiles* it wasn't on! How dare the programmers. He spent most of the night teasing me, laughing at me and kissing me.
