Bridge

Ever thought of trying something new? Ever thought I’ll try something a little quirky? Well, 2 of my friends and I decided to take Bridge lessons. I was the first to arrive and as expected there was a flurry of grey hair, walking sticks and wrinkly faces around the room, a young lady came in (I’d say late 20’s early 30’s) she made a bee line for me and we immediately clicked by saying ' I thought I'd be the only young one here' she joined our group and became our 4th. Being our first 2 hour introduction to Card Bidding, Tricks, Trumps, Card Values and Dummy’s I’ve come to the conclusion this game isn’t as easy as it looks… Contracts, bidding and reading your partner, I’m not at all competitive when it comes to ‘a game’ which works brilliantly for our little group. $29 for 4 weeks of 2 hour lessons – bargain! Next week we’ll be learning the scoring system. Who knows in 40 years time I may have a little Bridge team having tea and cookies

Week 32 - July / August 2007

Job Status: I have an interview scheduled for this afternoon
Gym workouts: Not a thing... Lots of dancing and dog walking a little 'intimate' workout
Movies watched: Nothing
Reading: I didn't pick up my book at all the last week
Diet: Slowly getting back to normal eating habits
Alcohol consumption: Too much alcohol on Friday night - not a thing Saturday, i don't think I'll be drinking again for a while
Song stuck in my mind: Somewhere from West Side Story (I watched Ugly Betty and the nephew was in the school musical)
Quote of the Week:

My sister saw you dancing with some guy at the gym

Random Observation: I think I'll be a huge scraggy slut when I move out alone.
Money Spent: I bought a $10 skirt reduced from $59.95 - oh how I love sales!
$229.00 parking infringement for parking outside my own house. Not impressed.

When Talking Dirty Is Just Dirty

I'm all for talking dirty, verbalising those sexual desires, calling out what you want or receiving text messages and emails of growing sexual tensions but when a guy said to me today "I'm so hot for you I'm going to take a cold shower and flog my cock thinking about you" it doesn't arouse me, in fact I'm slightly repulsed. I'd be so much happier with some smooth talking, caressing, kissing, tongue exploring body etc...

Sydney, an International City?

After theatresports on Saturday night D and I wanted to have dessert, it was 11pm, we were in Enmore and couldn’t find a venue in walking distance for a hot chocolate.

George Street was chocka block with traffic and the only place we could think of in that direction was at The Rocks, we didn’t want to go to Kings Cross because of parking issues after much too-ing and fro-ing we decided to call it a night.

Driving back toward my area we saw Mickey’s was still open – YAY! A Mars Bar Cheesecake for me and a cup cake for my girlfriend and a big hello to Cib’s who was working, almost as soon as we arrived it was closing time…

Where in the eastern suburbs or city can one get a coffee after a show or movie?

Star Light! Star Bright!

Last night I attended the 2007 celebrity theatresport challenge. The best $45 I’ve spent in the longest time, D. and I laughed so much that my cheeks hurt and she said her throat was stinging…

I still can’t believe there were only the two of us interested in attending this event. All our fiends missed out on 3 hours of the best belly laugh and it was all for a good cause. Knowing two of the performers is the only way I found out about the event – why aren’t charity events like this publicised?

Best line of the night: I’m a ghost of Christmas future Leonardo, you will have a turtle named after you…

That Kind of Night...

I went out with my contractors last night, they took me out, they bought me drinks, they feed me, they bought me more drinks and we danced... My friends boyfriend sent a few randoms texts and I was drunk enough to say come join me dancing the night away with my work associates. One of the contractors was too tired and called it a night a little earlier than expected. Introductions were made, more drinks bought and I was dancing my little heart away - a little too close than acceptable with both men. Too close. My feet were killing, my friends boyfriend had kissed my neck while dancing, it was the early morning hours and my contractor lives in Woolongong so of course I offer for him to crash at mine. I said my goodnight's, he asked if I wanted to stay with him - not going to happen and besides I had another guy to be sleeping in my bed that night. I didn't expect any action, yeah whatever - just like the sex.

Compulsive Bad Viewing

Last night after the 2 hour season return of Las Vegas I watched Age of Love, whoa! Could a show be any worse, it was compellingly bad. Every commercial I thought I’ll turn it off but no I needed to see if the girl with curly hair would start crying again.. Oh so sad, but I was addicted. I’ll turn the telly off before it starts next week (maybe)

Sexy Man #2

Matthew McConaughey, This man just says sex to me.

He’s been my Hollywood crush for many years. I first remember him from Dazed and Confused then I was riveted by his brilliant performance in A Time to Kill – the heat of the southern states inducing sweat dripping from his hot body…

He’s become a favourite with chick flicks as a romantic lead, I agree strenuously with this casting decision. How many girls out there would like this man getting undressed in the middle of their office, showing off that hot masculine ripped physique?

Week 31

Job Status: My desk was moved when I arrived back at the office. I no longer have a window seat in natural light and a view down to Darling Harbour. I’m in the middle of the office, no window, people behind me – talk about a way to affect an employee’s morale. Oh yeah I’m just a consultant…
Gym workouts: Does walking from the bed to the lounge count?
Movies watched: Superman Returns, The DaVinci Code, Home of the Brave and Goodfellas
Reading: HARRY POTTER and the Deathly Hollow
Diet: Porridge, lots of water and yummy Greek food at a friends birthday dinner… Hmmm Baklava
Alcohol consumption: A glass of red wine while I was out at dinner on Saturday night
Song stuck in my mind: Big girls don’t cry – Fergie. It’s playing everywhere I go; I don’t even like the song.
Quote of the Week:
Are you alive?

I’m sick, leave me alone!
Observation: It’s so true, I could never share with anyone – 1 and a half weeks and I’m going CRAZY!
Money Spent: $50 on a new battery (phone still doesn’t work)

Company

Press play while reading….

Friday night was the first time I was Company, not knowing too much about the production other than the composer, it’s a musical comedy and David Campbell starring.

In typical Sodheim fashion this production has a high concentration of lyrics, you focus on something on the stage and you’ll wonder why everyone else is laughing.

The opening scene and the following couple of tracks were a little painful, the main character is ‘Bobby’ by 3 minutes into the production I felt like yelling ‘yep, I got it, his name is Bobby’. Bobby is having his 35th birthday and his close friends 5 couples, each couple with a story and all telling Bobby (Robert) why he should or shouldn’t get married. As the story moves forward the better it gets. The play explores the intricacies of relationships, what is takes to maintain a marriage and how people can be happy just being themselves.

There are some really great scenes, a wonderful message and songs that stick in your mind. The cast were spectacular especially Tamsin Carroll, highly impressive.

Here's to the ladies who lunch--
Everybody laugh. Lounging in their caftans and planning a brunch on their own behalf. Off to the gym, then to a fitting, Claiming they're fat. and looking grim, 'Cause they've been sitting choosing a hat. Does anyone still wear a hat?
I'll drink to that.

And here's to the girls who play smart—
Aren't they a gas? Rushing to their classes in optical art, Wishing it would pass. Another long exhausting day, Another thousand dollars, A matinee, a Pinter play, Perhaps a piece of Mahler's.
I'll drink to that. And one for Mahler!

And here's to the girls who play wife—
Aren't they too much? Keeping house but clutching a copy of LIFE, Just to keep in touch. The ones who follow the rules, and meet themselves at the schools, Too busy to know that they're fools. Aren't they a gem?
I'll drink to them! Let's all drink to them!

If you’re into Musical theatre I’d recommended seeing this one. Just make sure you take some tissues for that girl next to you sneezing and coughing away ;-)

Another hundred people just got of the train and came up through the ground, while another hundred people just got off of the bus and are looking around at another hundred people who got off of the plane and are looking at us who got off of the train and the plane and the bus. Maybe yesterday. It's a city of strangers, some come to work, some to play. A city of strangers...

Bye Bye Moto

My mobile phone died earlier this week, Tuesday night to be precise, we’ve had a unique relationship over the last 13 months, I’ve loved, cursed, I’ve squealed with glee, I’ve wanted to throw the phone with anger, frustration… Good times.

I generally dislike mobile phones I continuously declare ‘my phone is for my convenience, not anybody else’s’. Maybe it committed suicide? Couldn't be in my hand any longer. More love to the next one.

Since my phone departed and I lost many many numbers stored on the phone memory; anybody I’ve met in the last 12 months or so and all my recently appointed work contractors… Oh the horror of not being able to contact people by a quick scroll of a key.

I tried almost everything during the week to get the stupid thing to work long enough to extract numbers – oh technology… Oh my poor memory. I got it to work briefly on Thursday, enough time to send a few texts and copy half a dozen numbers.

I found the only satisfying thing about my contact list almost being lost is the wonderful opportunity to update contacts. Int other words - Delete time!

Alladin: I knew an Alladin? Alladin is a name one would assume remembering… Not me

Bouncer / Accountant: Didn’t go anywhere, so his number can go!

Car stalker: kept it, I thought of hitting the delete button.

The Concierge: Well, he’s married now, we haven’t spoken this year – why keep his details?

Donna: Gone. We lost contact a couple years ago when she and our mutual friend’s boyfriend got together. It wasn’t done nicely.

Ex-boyfriends best friend: Why did I have it in the first place?

James – Twin: Yes, that’s how I labelled him. NFI!

Katherine: Where or where did Katherine go?

Michael: There’s only been one Michael in my life and that’s all there’ll ever be. I told Michael he was never allowed to date another N, I’ll extend the same courtesy. If you’re name is Michael ‘do not apply’

The Older Gentleman: No reason to keep it, I have one fond memory of him singing a song he wrote for me - that’s enough… Oh and my first try of Pink Moet. All the important things right?

Sabre Boy: Gone. He wont be forgotten.

Sarah (Alex): Again, this is how I labelled her, no idea.

Soisana: who?

Tivadi: It’s an interstate number, NFI – help?

Zuhal: I didn’t like her, why did I even have her number?

I made one very interesting observation, I have (I had to count, precision a must) 23 overseas numbers. No wonder I feel like I don't have anyone to go out with anymore, everyone's moved away, granted some are family.

Being sick at home and having my contractors calling me, my owners ringing and not recognising the numbers was absolute hell. When I got back to the office on Friday I needed to scan emails to get contact details. Why don’t people include a phone number in the footer? So unnecessarily stressful! I later had one of the fire guys call, I complained mildly that I lost all his contact details and what does he say, 'not good enough I expect to be on your sim card memory' but but but... oh, what difference does it make!

Must get new phone today.

The House-sitting Challenge Update

What is the best way to loose 1.5kg in 3 days? Contract a cold that kills your appetite. I slept till 1.50pm on Wednesday and was back in bed by 6.30pm. Yesterday I had a bowl of oats with dried fruit and not much water. Today so far, bowl of oats and lots of water… I hate being sick! Why now? I’m going to the theatre tonight and I’m going to be one of those people I curse coughing and sneezing through the entire production. But, I can’t miss it!

The House-sitting Challenge

I’ve house sat / dog sat on several occasions from a 5 day stint to 5 weeks. Sometimes I get lazy, cooking for one after a long day at work followed by a gym session then walking the dog is just too much so I make a dish that will last for 3 days or so, usually this is a high carb / high fat concentration (lasagna or alike), I come back home and I’ve put on weight. There was that one time at my girlfriends place it was 6kg because her scales were adjusted – heart attack moment (ironically this was at L’s place).

This tenure I wish to accomplish weight loss. I jumped, okay tenderly stepped onto the scales this morning: 61.5kg after brekkie. I went grocery shopping yesterday and purchased all healthy items, fish, salad stuff i.e lettuce and avocado since I don’t care for salad, juice and since I have a sweet tooth I bought fruit n’ spice English muffins (better than chocolate!).

I will continue to go to the gym as per my usual routine to which I didn’t keep last week due to this damn flu, I will walk the dog once a day for at least 20 minutes, I must walk to the bus stop each morning and night which was 8 minutes each way.

Will I get to my target of 58kg? I can hear myself in 2 weeks time ‘muscle weighs more than fat’.

Some “Friends”

I was invited to L’s birthday drinks last night. Since the invitation arrived I’ve created fictitious excuses to avoid going, I’ve also requested a girlfriend to be my date – so mean of me to consider exposing my friend to this array of people. Miss I’m a vegetarian but eat chicken, Miss I run many of Sydney’s best restaurants, and Miss loud finger sucker at dinner table, Mr & Mrs perfect life, Mr & Mrs I’m so fucking wealthy now bow down to me.

Of course I attended, braved the chilly weather, didn’t succumb to my cold. I went with the intention of having a couple of drinks and be back in bed by 9pm. I arrived later than anticipated, searched the venue and greeted L. with some birthday cheer, while we were talking I scowled the room, no one there I want to entertain so much as a 30 second fake conversation, I went to the bar and ordered a cocktail, $17.50 and at least 15 minutes later (the bar was dramatically understaffed) I went back to the designated area. I spoke to L’s husband briefly, when I say briefly it was more displaying a lesson from one of my friends that told me the best conversationalists are ones that has the other person talking constantly so I asked many questions (none returned).

One of L’s uni friends arrives, the only one I care for. Her and her husband are lovely, real people and the only other patrons under the age of 36. L is chatting away, giving the run down on how perfect her life is, it made my skin crawl. Her words exactly ‘my life and my husband have exceeded all my expectations’ – I can’t believe she said that! She then asked C her uni friend whose recently married, they’re happy etc and than she asked me. FFS! I felt the judgmental demeaning sensation flow over me. What do you think; the last 3 years haven’t exactly gone to plan.

I left and was in bed watching a DVD snuggled with I. Once the movie finished he asked me to stay, I may be in that self-destruct mode but there’s no way I’m going there. He joked about bringing out the cuffs, no no no…. I went home and straight into my own bed, well I’m house sitting so it’s kinda my own bed. As of today I still feel a bit crappy despite the grand efforts of one of my girlfriends who called me last night and today.

Alarm Bells

I spoke to my contractor this morning, after an update and status report of current building works, anticipated completion dates and estimates for future work. We then spoke about our weekend plans (blah blah blah) and to my shock, horror, dismay he said ‘if any other guy comes near you I’ll bash them’. WTF is that about? I laughed nervously before telling him phrases like that don’t impress woman… Awkward conversation ensued.

No, you just have to wait

Quote of the Week: My work colleague comes up to me while I’m at me desk and pokes me in the side of my tummy:

What’s this a Good Year or Dunlop, knowing you it would be a Pirelli

Observation: I’m enjoying updating my little online diary again.
Money Spent: $$$ on one of the best weekends EVER!

Monday, July 16, 2007

Give it to me, baby. Give me that stuff, that funk, that sweet, that funky stuff!

I had one of the best weekends. Fact.

Friday my MD plonked a glass of red wine on my desk, it was approximately 2pm, by close of business there were 4 empty bottles of wine ready for recycling – not bad for a team of 5.

I wandered up to Town Hall to meet my girlfriends for a ‘quite night’. I met a girl I studied fencing with last year, it’s confirmed; the only thing we have in common is fencing. Because it was a Harry Potter movie night I invited one of my only other friends I thought would be interested in seeing the movie, I fell in love with her the first moment I met her.

We had Chinese vegetarian for dinner, Bec and I scrawled through the menu as avid a meat eaters there was a dish described as ‘meat texture and flavouring’ naturally we had to give that one a go hehehe… Next stop hot chocolate to kill some time before the movie – since when did hot chocolate cost $4.35, order and pay at counter plus it was served in a paper cup! Not impressed. I thoroughly enjoyed the latest Harry Potter movie (would’ve been better is we weren’t in the second row. We did get there 25 mins or so early to prevent it).

After the movie was drink’s time. J. my fencing friends and vegetarian admitted she didn’t drink either – I felt she looked at me as a “sex charged alcoholic meat eater” Oh the judgment in her glare. Bec and I went to Three Wise Monkeys, oh my god you need to be drunk in order to appreciate this venue! Cib’s came to pick us up and I think we’ve found a new winter local, we were on big leather seats next to an open fire drinking wine (I was) chatting away, shame the venue closed so soon.

My Saturday’s have become a routine, I get up at a nice hour, a little sleep in and of to the gym at 10 for a 2 hour sweat-fest, home, shower etc and meet a friend for lunch. This is what Saturday’s are all about, after lunch a little browse in a second handbook shop, look in a vintage clothing store, antic furniture shop and its all done to be home approximately 4pm for a relax in front of the TV before heading out for a night on the town (all the better if I can fit in a cat-nap).

The night on the town… I was dying to go to The Basement. It was a tribute to Motown music, any one that knows me is fully aware of my music taste – this venue, this music – quintessential N. My girlfriend that I’d arranged to go with pulled out last minute (no surprise there and no more invitations to her) I went through my little phone and started text messaging away ‘anyone interested’ ‘anyone free’ I was feeling so disheartened, I only know one person who would be into it 100% but it’s not a cheap night and he was working…. I was upset, started complaining that I need new friends. 2 of my newest (and the best) buddies decided to come out with me *happy dance* we started for a cheap eat at Jacksons on George, this is the first time I’ve been there sober (and early) not as skeazy as I remember. Then off to hear the beats of Motown.

The Basement was pumping, the crown fantastic I love the demographics of this joint. We were dancing to all the classics, there were a few patrons at the front of the stage ‘doing the Grape Vine’ and new most of the dance sequences to most of the songs. Such a good night, the venue closed earlier than we expected, the desire to continue partying was there, but as D. said ‘why ruin a good night’ (poor thing called me 10 minutes after I got home and she was locked out of her new apartment).

Sunday morning I was up again at the gym bright and early (early for a Sunday morning). Did the same as Saturday, rush home shower, house work and met H. for lunch, wow did time fly, we met at 1pm and then they were closing up (4pm) approached so fast. She was tempted to come shopping with me, but all I wanted was another pair of warm wooly PJ’s, to my dismay they couldn’t be found however I did bump into my sister shopping… I went home slouched on the lounge, content with a fantastic weekend. Today I look at my purse and I can not believe how much money I spent!

Gossip and Scandals

I regret on some level, not going back to his room. How often does a Sydney girl have an opportunity like that?

When will I next have an opportunity to live out my fantasy?

*****************************************************************

Why is it when a friend of a platonic male friend asks you about you're friendship with said person, the typical female brain goes spinning?

You serious. I never thought about it.

No, you're mistaken, he likes....

Ah, he's mates drunk. Has no idea. We're just friends.

*****************************************************************

On Wednesday morning I had an appointment with one of the building contractors, we've been flirting insistently over the last couple of months.

We went into the Main Switch Room of the building, (work related) before I knew it I was pushed up against the wall kissing madly, leg raised alighted with his hips, hands gliding all over each others bodies... all over. His cut abs, pecks huge, arms would be size of my thighs, cock hard, lips soft, stubble rough.

He blew all over the wall, we laughed, joked what would people think if they saw us coming out... My tenants did. But, hey I'm always in facilities rooms with men.

He's called several times for work and reminiscing our wild encounter on the clock.

To think I said I'd never be involved with a personal trainer. Ha! This guy trains one of Australia's most successful and infamous sports stars. Rules were meant to be broken.

*****************************************************************

A Friday night mid-June I was having a quite drink with a girlfriend and invited Mr J. to join, I hadn't seen him for a week and a catch up over a drink was overdue. He came, he got the okay from my girlfriend.

The night was progressing quickly and we were in need of nourishment. He mentioned dinner and his sister was out and about that night - ohhhh meeting the family.

We arrived at the cafe'. His mother and 2 sisters were there.

His family had spent the previous 2 hours at a yoga class by candle light. I had spent the previous 3 hours guzzling red wine.

Not the first impression I was hoping to display.

*****************************************************************

On my way home from work yesterday I caught the train at Town Hall station as usual. I saw a man, my tummy flipped, he was tall, well built, handsome.

My tummy flipped, he looked familiar. I know that hair, I know that physique, that jacket tweaked a familiarity.

I'm 90% certain it was Sabre Boy. One year on and I can't guarantee I remember a man I had a month long romance...

*****************************************************************

My current crush* sent me an email last week / or was it 2 weeks ago. The email addressed:

Dear Miss N,

I freaked out! This is a work associate. A guy I have a crush on - imagine what's going through my mind... he's read my blog!

The horror

We met for a lovely lunch, just shy of 2 hours.

He's nice. I like him.

*****************************************************************

A couple of weeks back when out with the girls Mr J. joined us and he'd had a but to drink and I had my car parked out the front so I was counting drinks... We talked, I floated between the two groups I was with for the night chatting, drinking and dancing.

As the night turned to the early hours of the morning I was slowly sobering up in the preparation for getting behind the wheel, he asked me to go home with him.

I said no.

Partially because we hadn't even groped like teenagers, considering we had 'dated' for 2 months I like a little more action. More so: he was drunk, I was not and I was between waxes.

I haven't heard from him since....

*****************************************************************

As anticipated the gorgeous guy I spent the night with over Queens Birthday Long Weekend never called. On the night he asked for my number 3 times, I said why don't we just call this what it is a night thing.

I hate giving my number out! I loose control of the situation and develop expectations.

*****************************************************************

I was supposed to go out with the fire contractors again last Friday night, one pulled out due to being at a seminar all week and living in Woolongong the drive home would be unbearable. So, it was just me and the the area manager. We went to Double Bay, the city was too busy - took 22 minutes to go one block and my parking space was taken by some stray Mo' Fo'! Grrr....

We went to the nice laid back pub, sat in the rear room on the big compfy lounges, a couple bottles of wine and a much needed meal he said 'you always take me to expensive places'. Well, my retort "no mister, this is where I live, this is my lifestyle and take this evening as a prime example to why I didn't take up *your* job offer. I just couldn't afford to live" hehehe...

He drove me home and went in for the kiss.

"And you really think I'd work for you if we went down that path?" Cheeky smile "Thanks for a great night. Byeeeee"

Jumped out faster than you could say 'sweet dreams'.

I was drunk.

*****************************************************************

I went out to dinner with I. on Monday night, I spent most of the night peering over his shoulder perving at a few cute US sailors on their last night in Sydney.

He confessed, he's never had a 'real relationship'. He's dated a few girls for 4-6 week intervals, then it drops off.

He's 33.

*****************************************************************

When I went out with Mr J. a few weeks back I introduced him to a few of my former work colleagues, I. was there also, I never let on that I and I dated (2 dates, first one was to an engagement because I didn't want to go alone. Number 2, I didn't think anything of the 'coffee') Apparently I broke his heart when I hooked up with one of the tenants on the building I was working at 2 years ago... My first kiss with a cute navy boy.

Well, on Saturday night while I was at the Pimps and Hoe's Party** Mr J. saw I. out at the Cross (yes, I did get in trouble for not calling I. while I was out in his 'hood' But I was enjoying another uniform. Mr J. asked if I. could help his friend out - WTF? I haven't heard from this guy in a couple of weeks and now he tracks down *my* friend to seek assistance. Oh well, I. was attending to a stab victim thus didn't have time.

*****************************************************************

My sisters ex-partner is back in Sydney after being MIA for 2 years. Life has been strenuous since his reappearance. My nephew has started rebelling, my sister is about to fall back into the same old routine.

Sexy Man #1

After my post last week about the woman my ex boyfriends have liked and the constant omission of men I find gorgeous on my deal breakers. I’ve been asked my opinion on the sexiest men; the men that press my buttons (cute Navy boys exempt because hey, you all know that by now). I’m overcome by the sexiness of it! I love men; there's a true deep appreciation of exemplary examples of the male species. ..

My number one ultimate sexy man is Marlon Brando. I developed my crush on Brando back in his day, the movie was Guys and Dolls, Sky Masterson. He was a man... The suit, the hat, the way he spoke, the bad boy - I love it. Luck me a lady tonight..... *Dreams*

I think he is the most handsome man, such character in his face. What a body. The way he wears clothes, let it be a sweaty T-shirt "A Streetcar Named Desire" or an immaculately appointed suit "Guys and Dolls". Just gorgeous. Men don’t present themselves like that any more.

* Please refrain from comments on Brando’s later appearances.

So FAR Away

You would think my perception would be different as I attending school there. Could Old South Head Road feel any longer?

I went over to a girlfriends house for dinner last night, the sandstone house it amazing! The kitchen and informal dinning area is larger than my unit and the view oh the view, sitting having dinner watching the Harbour Bridge... *dreams*

Her hospitality is impressive, a 3 course meal for 4 wine and lots of girl chat.

The best part of the night? Watching Prison Break finale in the ‘TV Room’ on the biggest screen, it felt like I was in the front row of a movie cinema and Wentworth Miller was life size!

The drive home was hard… Anything past that light house should require a passport! How did I do it everyday on the bus for 5 ½ years?

Song stuck in my mind: summer of '69 – Bryan Adams
Quote of the Week:
The first magic of love is our ignorance that it can ever end

Random Observation: Why do so many women wear open toe shoes in winter? Further, why do woman think it’s a good fashion statement to wear stockings with open toe shoes?

Do you want to have drinks after work tonight with me and R? Let me know if you are available.

I have plans tonight. Thanks.

12:12 from CEO (R)
I had planned to discuss a few items this afternoon in the office but I understand that you have other commitments. This not a problem however I would like to broach these subjects now.

... then went into a fucking essay.

You know what I say? How fucking presumptuous that I'd be 'free' on a Friday night and that I'd *want* to have drinks with them!

7000!

I think the next 5 days should be declared a holiday for every single woman in Sydney.

Tuesday, July 03, 2007

I LOVE SYDNEY BECAUSE...

+ You can make over $100,000 per year and still can't afford a house.
+ You never bother looking at the train timetable because you know the drivers have never seen it either.
+ You order organic fruit and vegetables online, but eat out every night anyway.
+ You spend more money on your coffee machine than on your washing machine.
+ You spend $400+ per week for your room in an apartment with stunning harbour and beach views and European appliances; and spend a total of forty hours a week there, of which thirty-seven are spent sleeping.
+ You contemplate calling a taxi from your home to where you managed to park your car the night before.
+ You spend thirty minutes in a traffic jam next to a car that has more power going to its speakers than its wheels.
+ You know everyone's e-mail and mobile number but not their last name or home address.
+ You can roll sushi, make pasta and keep your red curry paste recipe under lock and key... but couldn't roast a chicken to save your life.
+ Your taxi driver was a micro-surgeon before he immigrated to Australia.
+ Your co-worker tells you he/she has eight-body piercing but none are visible.
+ You can't remember... is dope illegal?
+ You've been to more than one baby shower that has two mothers and a sperm donor.
+ You have a very strong opinion on where your coffee beans are grown, and can taste the difference between Sumatran and Ethiopian.
+ A really great parking space can move you to tears.
+ You are thinking of taking an adult class but you can't decide between yoga, conversational Italian or building your own website.
+ A man in full leather regalia and crotch less chaps gets on the bus and you don't notice.
+ You are genuinely surprised when you meet someone who was actually born in Sydney.
+ Your hairdresser is straight; your plumber is gay, and your Avon lady is a drag queen.

Than live without him in mine

The Best Weekend!

Friday afternoon i escaped work around 4.30pm, not too shabby considering I had a 7:00am kick off, a 1 hour meting with a contractor over coffee followed by a 2 hour lunch with my current crush at The Slip Inn.

On my slow walk through the city I bumped into my Aunt who I haven't seen or spoken to for over 2 months due to a rift between her and my mum.

I met Cibby, Bec and Stephen for dinner, Korean food. I've never had Korean before, very tasty! An after dinner drink was a must, we went to a dodge pub with bogans, lasted one drink before heading to Equilibrium Hotel.

Saturday back to my routine of 2 hour gym class in the morning, then a 3 hour lunch with mum at Bondi Trat, lovely food, beautiful view over Bondi Beach but a little heavy on the price. I was home in enough time to fit in a late afternoon doze in front of the telly.

Saturday night at The Sheaf, it was PACKED! Seriously could. not. move through the crowd. It was A Traffic Light party - damn themed parties are driving me nuts! Red means, not interested, amber means maybe and green is all go ahead. I had totally forgotten the night had a dress code however I wore beige with dusty orange top, green eye make up and a red jacket. So typical female to send mixed signals.

The music was awesome, great funky beats, I was on the dance floor with C, I've FINALLY found a dancing girlfriend! YAY! My feet were sore but I soldered on, the music running through my body, I danced till close...

Sunday 9.30 gym class (ouch) followed by another long lunch at my wonderful friend D's new apartment, not too new she settled a month ago and Sunday was her house warming lunch, wow! What a place, views all out to Middle Harbour and typically my girlfriend and I lent over the balcony (almost falling over) to see the Big Bad Bridge.. Time just flew! I had to run to meet Cibby and Bec for the double feature at The Chauvel.

The BEST weekend

You Like Who???

I’m fully aware of the grades of incorrectness when it comes to men I like, my expectations of a man, deal breakers and what have I missed? Appearance! All those luscious exterior qualities I desire.

Well this post isn’t going to give insight to that! hehehehehehehe.... Instead I’m going to talk about what woman men I’ve known and loved thought were the hottest stuff.

MFL (my first love for the newer reader)
He had an interest in Uma Thurman. I think Uma is beautiful in an exotic way, classy, an exquisite understated glamour..

BF no. 2 (AKA Dom) He swayed toward the classic girl. His ultimate woman was Audrey Hepburn. Audrey, I tried smoking when I was younger to imitate the 'classy Holly Golightly esque' image... I coughed and hacked away, not the look I was going for. Audrey is just elegance personified.

BF no. 3
(AKA Tiz’)
He had the biggest crush on Eliza Duska. What a hot body she has, not a main stream actress, a sassy girl...

A guy I met a little while ago mentioned his ideal woman was Furgie from the Black Eyed Peas – Fugly Furgie! OMFG... Why do men find this woman attractive? I just don't get it. Bad face, bad fashion sense and I dislike her music with a passion. WTF is Furgilious??? But, her boy friend - WOW!

The guy that liked Furgie... He had to go!

Words for "The Awesome Foursome"

You know who you are! *wink*

Complete Blah

I woke this morning to the sound of a delivery trucks radio blaring, I look at the time and my alarm didn’t activate, it was only 10 minutes later... I rolled over and pulled the blankets closer, I could hear tire's of cars passing by through the rain. I will myself to throw the covers back and start preparing myself for the day ahead.

I stumble into the bathroom, curse the red wine content from the night prior and question when half a bottle of red wine had affect the following day, snicker to myself ‘many other people would consider half a bottle of wine to be a lot’. I stood under the too hot water starring blankly at the tiles, the water cascading down the tiles – the water felt so prefect caressing my skin.

I wrapped a towel around me and sat on the ledge of the bath, I really don’t have it in me today… I could almost hear the time ticking away. My first meeting at 7.30am, I thought to myself ‘he better be cute’*. I staggered back into my room and opened my wardrobe, a closet full of clothes and nothing to wear… I pull out plain black skirt, plain black knit pull it on and realize I can’t get away with this outfit without ironing, I look for something that doesn’t require any effort. No alternatives.

Why is getting dressed such a chore? I had my skirt on, jumper and still a bit chilled I think of stockings, can’t be bothered putting them on, I’m between leg wax’s so I pick up my novelty socks and pull on my knee high boots – no one will get close enough to me to see my slightly exposed knee hair… I then think how disappointing that is, no one to race to the beautician for. I strategically place my fluffy scarf around my neck covering the V-line my jumper leaves, I make my porridge and eat quickly as I cover up my face with colours of steely blues, no lip stick today just a thin slice of gloss… I pick up my coat from the other wardrobe and I can’t find my umbrella. I run to the car in my 4” heeled boots grab my umbrella from the back seat and wander down to the bus stop.

My leather gloves aren’t protecting me from the cold, my knees feel the cold breeze, I wish I could stay under a blanket and watch DVD’s all day. I’m in the city, it feels bare… I feel like the only person walking from the train, I have my umbrella up but today I don’t care if I get wet right through. I walk past the street vendor with apples I always think of purchasing but never do. The next traffic lights I realize I didn’t even brush my hair this morning.

A strong skim flat white ordered, an introduction to the building, I’ve locked a tenant out of their office** and now stare aimlessly out the window at the bobbing umbrellas over the walk-bridge… It’s not even 9.30am.

*He was cute, not a flutter

The Bestest Friends

I went out to dinner tonight with one of the best guys I've ever known. My memories of him surround a song that speaks of dancing up close and sitting on rocks at Lady Mrs Macquaries Chair watching the cargo ships drift past.

A huge thank you for a wonderful night as always and it's such a delight to receive my favourite flowers - I love you!

Dr D. (LONG TIME NO HEAR)

Random Observation: Just because I can get a skirt on (one I purchased 5 years ago) does not mean it ‘fits’ there’s no way I’m eating today… or is it the perfect excuse to buy a new skirt?
Money Spent: Nothing out of budget

How much Is TOO Much???

It’s stock take sale time… On my lunch break Friday I went for a little walk through Myer, I don’t like the current fashion (miss that floor), I have enough shoes (does a woman ever have enough shoes?), make up and perfume – nup. Stockings / pantyhose at 30% off not bad but it would take me 30 minutes in the line. I thought homewares, I love home homewares… I don’t really have a home, but when I’m all really to move into my new house when I finally get around to purchasing (so many ‘when’s’ there) I want to have most kitchen ware on hand.

Looking around I found... Peugeot makes salt and pepper grinders. I want them!

They're so beautiful

Tthe world's sixth-largest car manufacturer has been making pepper, salt and coffee mills for longer than they have been making cars. The Peugeot brothers converted the family mill to produce steel in 1810 and began producing pepper mills in 1842, when the steel pepper mill mechanism was invented by a Peugeot engineer.

The mechanism was so reliable that it has remained in production, virtually unchanged, ever since and remains the most reliable on the market, so much so that it comes with a lifetime guarantee.

Today the Peugeot mills are made at Besançon, in south-west France. Nowadays they use machines but the production process itself has hardly changed in more than 100 years.

The difference between Peugeot pepper mills and salt mills is the mechanism.

Pepper mills use durable hardened steel, for its exacting machining and long term performance. Case hardening is used; a tempering process that makes the grinding head as hard as a ball bearing.

Peugeot pepper mill grinding mechanisms have two different size grooves: Channeling and Grinding. Channeling grooves (the larger ones) are designed to line up the peppercorns and to crack them. The Grinding grooves (the smaller ones) do the actual fine grinding process.

The larger grooves are still individually hand cut into the mechanism using the techniques utilized in the 1842, when the mechanism was first created by Peugeot.

A Tribute - Gianfranco Ferre

Gianfranco Ferre passed away June 15th 2007. He's one of my favourite (and worn almost daily) designers.

Now I must do whats right and try to fit into those white linen pants ;-)

Ferre started his career as an accessories and jewellery designer, and then moved on to clothes. His unofficial title as Italy's architect of fashion came thanks to the degree in architecture he obtained in 1969 from Milan's Polytechnic Institute that inspired his designs.

He started his company in the mid-1970s, but his major leap came in 1989, when he was tapped by Bernard Arnault to be the top designer for Christian Dior. At the time, it was almost unheard of for a non-French designer to take the reins of the Parisian house. Ferre stayed on at Dior until 1996, when he returned to Milan to tend to his own men's and women's collections.

Ferre's style was based on simple and structured lines, and the white blouse became one of his trademarks. His suits were used by businesswomen around the world seeking a sophisticated look.

I *Heart* This Clip

I’m neither for nor against Paris. Okay, so she’s made a career of attending parties, wearing some great outfits – some absolutely shocking ‘getup’s’, I think she’s made some absurd decisions – money talks...

I don’t pick up gossip rags, my attention span for Entertainment News is less than 30seconds, but when I saw this I couldn’t stop laughing!

Stray guy walking past me at Crows Nest Hotel. Just because I was adjusting my top that got caught on the zip of my handbag shouldn’t be an invitation for such comment. But wait, he was cute!

The Queens Birthday Long Weekend

The Queens birthday long weekend… I’m sure many have seen the pictures or news on the storms we New South Welshman experienced. I’m happy to report the anticipated holiday at the Hunter Valley for a delightfully debauched weekend of wine tasting, cheese and chocolate eating was far from happening when two of the girls decided to head up to Queensland and poor me not knowing if I had money coming through the door in the next week, it was a blessing to miss it the storm, the floods...

Instead Friday night I had dinner with Mr J. at my home away from home, good thing it was walking stumbling distance. I was running a little late (I know - I know, it's only up the road) When I got there, mustn't have been more than 7 minutes late Mr J. had already ordered his dinner and it arrived just as I walked in. He said he was early and didn't think it would come so fast! SO FUCKING RUDE! He lost almost all points right then and there.

As per usual with Mr J. after we finished dinner he asked 'what do you want to do now?' This statement frustrates me greatly, it was a pet peeve with my ex-BF. I'm happy to stay somewhere for hours and just chat, noooo... He needs to 'do something' we went to Mickeys for hot chocolate and cake. I was anxiously embarrassed when he started 'resighting' his lyrics. He only got a peck for a kiss good night.

Saturday night I was faced with a conundrum - picked up by the best looking guy that's ever shown interest in mere little me (Ryan Reynolds look-a-like). What does a gal do? Chit chat and play coy hoping that glass of champers he just bought will lead to many more drinks over several more occasions or seize the moment and kiss this gorgeous man as in the harsh light of day he may disappear.

Carpe diem! I went for it, I went home with him... It was a blur of arms, legs, skin, lips, kisses of passion unleashed. Nails running down his torso, my back involuntarily arching with pleasure.

I can still here the music playing softly in the background as we laid closely on the bed wet with sweat. His arm around me. We spooned, his warm breathe on the back of my neck, the kissing and light nibbling on my ear... The drift off to sleep with his body sculptured into mine. I remember waking in the middle of the night, his muscular golden arm still in its place, his breathe steady caressing my skin. He woke. His fingers navigated my body..

Again...

And again....

Sunday morning (yep, I spent the night) I tried to get a cab home, 45 minutes later a couple of distressed calls to V and a taxi company that refused to pick me up from 'a corner'. My last resort... I rang dad like a damsel in distress, he came to my resew and picked me up within minutes and dropped me off to my friends place - no explanation necessary or I should say required.

Chez Rene for dinner, still recovering from a barely sleeping night, a day of DVD's and hang over cures. Dad and his partner took me for dinner as per usual 3 bottles of wine sit on the table. Entree, I tried Crocodile for the first time served with Sauce Bearnaise. It was unbelievably good. Like fishy chicken. Main was Canard a l'Orange (Half duck, partly boned, roasted and served with an orange sauce), cooked to perfection. Dessert Mousse au chocolat - Dark and white chocolate mousse, served with chocolate sauce. The richest meal I think I've ever had... The end of the meal all 3 bottles of wine consumed.

The end of an era. Chez Rene Restaurant closed it's doors after 37 years of trading.

Monday a nice long lunch with mum, sister and nephew at Bondi Junction, I was tired, hang over. Mum wanted to go to a movie, I want to sleep. We went home, put on some bad TV and I was asleep on the lounge by 6pm

BOOM! BOOM!

I said at the beginning of the year I wanted to start my own business. It just occurred to me – I have! I registered all the little thingy-majiggies earlier this year and I’m working as a property consultant. I have had 3 months steady income since inception, how many new businesses sustain that? I have 2 consultancy contracts pending to cover me for the next 6 months. BOOM!

I just realised I’ve been looking at the situation from the wrong angle… All this time I’ve had what I wanted, my own Property Consulting Business.

**I’ve been watching too much Entourage

The Simple Things

He’s waiting for you at your front door

He opens the car door

He gives you the window seat at one of your favourite café’s

Drinking huge mugs of hot chocolate snuggled on a big leather lounge

He links my arm in his as we walk

He holds my hand through the entire movie

A gentle kiss good night…
