What Do You Want To Be When You Grow Up?

I was over at Practically Perfect and Rosanna was writing about how many times she’s changed her mind about what she wants to be when she grows up, I realised I've changed my mind a million times or more, my highlights and laughable low points:

I wanted to be a cabaret performer - I was never good enough dancer and the few of you that have heard me sing regret it. ALLLLLL. Thaaaaat. JAAZZZZZZZ!!!!!!

I wanted to be the next Nadia Comaneci - I think I’ve landed on a balance beam twice after a back flip. Ever.

I wanted to be a train driver, as a child I was interested to see the tunnels – novelty would definitely wear thin.

I wanted to be a Saxophone player, I thought it would be ultra trendy, I don’t think I can tell apart a semi quaver to any other note (I don’t even know the names) Now I would like to learn to play the Trumpet, for one rift in particular from a Big Bad Voodoo Daddy track – it’s never too late

I planned the best plan to become a Cult Leader - I still have my notes, one day maybe...

I wanted to be a sword fighter – Fencing lessons last year were a start.

I had wishes of being a Matador – where my mind was, I don’t know?

I wanted to be the first female Australian Prime Minister - I don't enjoy talking politics at all. I met my politics quoter last weekend with a 5-minute chat. I couldn’t care less about issues that don’t concern me directly. Selfish? Most definitely.

I dreamt of being a lover to Casanova – I still do…

I wanted to be a fighter pilot (thanks to watching Top Gun many times) - Stop laughing!!!

I dreamt of producing a talent show where the audience chooses who wins – taken!

I thought of being a forensic scientist – I learnt fast that I can’t stand the sight of blood and just the word needle makes my skin tingle in the most uncomfortable way.

I want to learn to operate a crane - I'm never going to say never

I wanted to knock down most of an ugly eastern suburbs shopping centre and ‘build something pretty’ – look at me now!

Note: One of my many posts from the incomplete now completed collection inspired by another blogger

Next Week On....

I was watching my favourite TV show last night, I was on the edge of my seat throughout, actually I was sitting tense and hands clenched, I love this show, the first series ever I've been thoroughly addicted to and rearranging my social life to accommodate.

The final scene is Kellerman threatening Sarah and we all know Kellerman is capable of killing at the drop of a hat. He walked into the bathroom and general public audience gal believing he is going to kill her but I'm thinking Kellerman *liked * Sarah and may not actually do what that new horrible little man working for 'The Company' has requested. A cliff hanger at its best!

Next week they show Sarah at the window trying to escape. Cliff hanger ruined!*

Who is producing the advertisements for these series'? Don't they know simplest marketing techniques?

*My mind at ease because I like the character and actress.

Hit me with a ‘G’ Thang

The love / hate relationship with a letter. The lovely MissE gave the the letter "G" for 10 things I like and 10 things I dislike. Gee it was a hard letter hahaha!

Likes

1. Gold
I love gold, what can I say, it’s beautiful, can come in such ornate designs, great way to decorate. I love my gold watch, my gold chains, rings, pendants, bracelets, broaches and I want MORE!

2. Giuseppe Verdi
My favourite composer. Fact. I saw Rigoletto last year it was unbelievable, I challenge anyone to a better concerto than La Donna e Mobile. Early this year La traviata, okay I was whiling Violetta to die already by the third act but the music is to die for.

3. Google
What did we do before Google?

4. Gargoyles
I know many people think they are ugly, but I think they are wonderful, beautiful and a timeless piece of art history.

I have however said about a guy I met ‘he looked like a gargoyle’ and no, that’s not positive hehehe

5. George Gershwin
They can’t take that away from me…

Growing up watching musicals I don’t even know where to start with his marvellous tunes. Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra, Billie Holiday, Nina Simone, Judy Garland all sang his songs. With a line up such as them, Gershwin is a hit.

6. Giovanni Ribisi
I’m a huge fan of his work, an obscure actor that most people wouldn’t know him, I thought he was sensational in Basic and Boiler Room, I’m looking forward to seeing Perfect Stranger. He’s a great edgy actor (you may know him as Phoebe’s brother in Friends)

7. Gothic Architecture
Kinda cheating here, I love gargoyles remember. Beautiful gothic architecture, I could just walk around Europe for days on end fantasising of another time…

8. Gucci
Specifically my Gucci boots, I open the box and the scent of leather is intoxicating, the feel is smooth, I love to caress the curve of the boot. The heel is a 4” gold bamboo, the undulating bumps send shivers up my spine thinking about it.

They look so sexy, I feel so sexy when I wear them, however I don’t wear them often, as I’m too afraid to scuff them.

9. Gymnastics
I loved gymnastics as a kid. I went once a week after school for years. I could do cart wheels on balance beam, I once did a back flip. The bars I would have twirling competitions with A. I wanted to be a gymnast. Ha, now I struggle to touch my toes and the closest I’ll get to it is watching the Olympics

10. George Castanza
Can’t Stand Ya! How hilarious is this character! Many years of watching him, laughing with him, at him, feelings of overwhelming embarrassment. So great! I miss Seinfeld.

Remember: It’s not a lie if you believe it

Dislikes

1. Giant woman
I have an irrational fear of woman that is both taller and fatter than me. I can’t control it. I try to avoid them but proximity is still an issue.

2. Ghosts
I don’t actually believe in ghosts, I never want to be proven wrong.

3. Gravity
What can I say… I don’t want my breasts to hang, we blame gravity. It is interesting however, if gravity was a little lighter we would all be taller.

4. Green Day
I don’t like a single song and don’t understand the hype!

5. Gangster lingo
It’s ridiculous! The kids of today have such little comprehension of the English language and there they are talkin’ like Snoop... Gangster Dictionary .

6. Gadgets
They may be great but I just don’t have the patience to work out how to use them!

7. Gypsy’s
There were so many Cikáni, when I was in Czech Republic, they were on almost every street corner begging for money. There were groups of kids that would work in packs and pick pocket from not only the tourists but the locals. Travesty on such beautiful lands. Read a little on history of Cikáni České Republika.

8. Garbage
It’s smelly and consuming the environment. What’s to like?

9. Gardens – the upkeep
Gardens are pretty; the maintenance to hard for me to deal with. I have a weakness for landscape architects, each one I’ve seen is damn hot

10. Gastroenteritis
Enough said - Yuck

A New Week

Job Status: I GOT PAID! Money hit my account today – smiles a plenty!

A four-day week! I love it. I’m starting a petition to make every working week 4 days. Who’s on board?

Gym workouts: I thought I’d be a good little girl and go to a class on Monday night. I wanted to do a Pump class. I went to Bondi Junction instead of Randwick, I did 30 minutes of ‘Body Attack’ it was horrible and boring (hence leaving early)

Movies watched: Ferris Bueller's Day Off, There’s Something About Mary, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, The Big Hit, Buying the Cow, Two for the Money , 8 episodes of Angel, season 1 - I know it's a lot, but I had 4 days off and not much expendable cash

Reading: Bergdorf Blondes *blush*

Diet: lots of chocolate on Easter Sunday. If it’s not given to me I wont eat it. Creamy large bowl of pasta, shared a pizza and did I mention chocolate?

Alcohol consumption: averaging 2 glasses of wine 3 days a week. I’ll try and maintain that consumption

Song stuck in my mind: It aint no fu-un if a nigga can’t ge-et none… Snoop Doggy Dog

Money Spent: $85 on Easter presents for the family

I Hate Real Estate Agents!!!

Before anyone jumps down my throat – yes I’m still an agent (technically, but not practicing), that’s why I can say it :-P

Take this prime example of misleading advertising:

I called out of interest. Those strata levies would kill me.

$560K - $580K

Yep! Affordable my arse! Affordable for whom? Not this first home buyer doing it alone!

Na Zdraví! It's Easter Long Weekend!

This season I’ve started watching House, I enjoy it immensely, he says everything I would want to say but 'grin and bare' it instead. I can not watch this with mother dearest, every episode she attempts to diagnose the illness, I feel like screaming! Just because she works at the Children’s Hospital doesn’t mean she has to know every possible diagnostic. Why can’t she sit back relax and be entertained?

*****************************************************************

I’ve been going through the office file by file assessing what to keep what to dispose and best of all what to follow up to make a bit cashola.

I’m reading a site acquisition proposal and I’m thinking ‘this is similar to how I would write it’ I flip another couple of pages. There’s my ex managing directors name. I prepared the document 4 years ago.

*****************************************************************

My heart breaks:

No, it's not my Audi

*****************************************************************

Why is it when you’re only a few hundred dollars away from being broke (I can’t get into my ‘savings’) Visa decides that’s a great time to charge your annual credit card fee? Also, thanks pay by the month insurance.

I haven’t been paid yet – 5 days overdue.

It’s going to be a quite long weekend; thankfully I have BBQ’s and dinners at friend’s homes to keep the social expenditure low.

*****************************************************************

I’m Clarice! I had a guy stop me in the street and ask ‘who are your shoes’ I glanced sideways smiled and kept walking. Only thing going through my mind was this:

You're sooo ambitious, aren't you...? You know what you look like to me, with your good bag and your cheap shoes? You look like a rube. A well-scrubbed, hustling rube with a little taste...

I don’t even know what a ‘rube’ is however when he says it, it doesn’t sound complimentary.

*****************************************************************

I was in Bondi Junction with my mum on Saturday shopping; we bumped into Car Stalker guy. I had no choice other than introduce him to my mum…. Now she’s met The Car Stalker AND Dr D.

She said he has a lovely accent; great smile and physique but he has to do something with his eyebrows and wears too much cologne.

*****************************************************************

I found this:

I had my trepidations posting this information but this is my blog, my life and hey, most of you know intimate details about me by now anyway.

I've made an agreement with one of my closest friends, I need to loose 5kg, she needs to loose 30kg - we're going to support each other.

*****************************************************************

I have about 25 half written posts, I ordinarily write, post, not even bother with a proof read, read back in a few months when I can’t remember what I did that weekend.

I often see something interesting someone else has written and steal borrow their idea or I’m compelled to write a post based on their topic, well, I start something, I copy the link and 4 weeks later I’ve forgotten Lately I've been a bit busy with work so I click ‘keep’ on my RSS feed and come back to it in 3 weeks time.

How long is too long to write a rebuttal / complementary / commentary post based on another bloggers post and link back to it?

Passed Over by the Sloth-Slayer

This tickles my funny bone: an Atheist chickie cancels a date with an Islamic man to go to a Jewish function.

Last night was my first Passover traditional dinner with a girlfriend’s family.
The dinner festivities were moderately orthodox therefore 28 pages of prayers were read, each of us reading a portion translated from the Torah (look at me, I know a little bit). Throughout the 40 minutes or so it took to read all the prayers, salute our wine, point at the 'whatever the word is bread' and eat the bits and pieces required jokes and witty banter being exchanged ‘child ‘smoked’’ instead of smote, ‘run like rams’ said in a sing song manner… Typical when it gets to my part, giggling with my 2 friends like we were back in the school classroom ‘words by the sloth slayer’ the table erupt in laughter, oops soothsayer. I felt my face go red - too much watching of the Buffy.

30+ people around the table eating, laughing (sometimes at me), kosher wine is so not pleasant and there’s only so much Matzo a person can consume. I really do enjoy Matzo Ball Soup. I’ll never make it or buy it. Dinner was awesome, must be the best veal I’ve ever had, I tried brisket for the first time and the sweets, ohh the sweets, so yummy followed by a platter of fruit.

Judaism is like, way cool, (I was near the kids end) so many holidays and celebrations, all the food; I’m overwhelmed with the grace and generosity of my friend’s families for extending the invitations to me. I’ll give them an Easter Egg ;-)

Hair of the Dog

I felt crappy, a hang over from hell. I woke up with full intentions to attend a 9.30am gym class. I laid in bed for too long contemplating the roll over and go back to sleep, then I remembered my limited wardrobe choice of the night before, still can’t fit into most of my clothes. I rolled out of bed and threw on my workout wear, trudged to the bathroom and oops I didn’t do a good job of removing my make up. I went to the gym, would’ve been the hardest workout in my life, on a positive note I did sweat out a lot of alcohol.

When I got home I jumped straight into the shower, it was one of those longer than it should be showers where I just stood there letting the warm water stream over my body before realising what I’m supposed to be doing in the shower… I checked to see if my pay has gone through. No. I’m now officially into my ‘house deposit money’.

I had plans for the day that I was not going to cancel, a friend picked me up at 12.30 and we went to the pub. Yes, I was back at a pub, we had lunch at Bistro Moore. I had the best chilli crab linguine with rocket, peanuts and lemon for the bargain price of $12.50 so impressed for a one-hat restaurant! (I believe it still has a hat?!?!) Will come again for lunch with a bit more time...

We strolled over to the SFS (I know it’s changed but I prefer the old name) to watch the Roosters V Eagles. Another drink, sports ground prices are just ridiculous! Since when did the tickets for GA become $28? What happened to the blue-collar sport league? Not impressed. Equally not impressed with the performance of my beloved team. What has happened to you? We left before the game ended ‘to beat the crowd’ ha! To avoid seeing another try… Come on boys; show us what you’re made of! We have some great players, we’re just not using them to their full potential, it’s like the boys have just given up, us fan’s wont give up of you.

Promises – A Rant:

People, I hate people. I have one woman I’m dealing with at the moment. The *only* woman I I have any dealings with, she’s claiming I ‘promised’ the air conditioning on her floor would be fixed this weekend. I have a registered 43 issues that require attention since I’ve commenced, yes your floor is cold, yes, I’m working on it. I have had contractors to the building on several occasions and I recently found out that the office fit out is disturbing the flow of air. Not the developer’s problem, which means its not *my* problem. Here is a snippet of the latest email:

Excuse my Sinicism as promises have rarely been kept in the past

I’ve been here for less than a month. Is one month enough time to pass judgement on promises being kept? I’ve left several messages for her and her return rate is less than 20%. I keep all my clients up to date. Always have, always will, people can’t get stroppy when they have developed a good report. Anyway, it’s a snide miss-spelt comment, not a wise move to have in writing. I will disregard after this post. I sometimes wish I were like other people and just throw her file on the bottom of the pile, but noooooo I have to prove myself. 8.30 Monday, I’m buying the contractor a coffee and it’s being fixed.

I have never promised a thing in my working career. Not. A. Thing. Fact. My first lesson: Never commit.

Fuck people! One hour to go.

*** Edit 4.26pm. I advised the managing director to ensure this 'promise' wasn't made by another party, in other words, covering myself. The reply: Are they fucking joking?

My First Pay Cheque

I’m so excited, I’m getting paid in a few days time. My first pay cheque since mid December. I’m $354.03 away from dipping into my savings, not bad considering I’ve maintained my lifestyle, purchased Christmas presents, 5 birthday presents, 2 wedding presents, a huge expensive hens night, had my car repaired, bought some great kitchenware on sale, it’s a scary feeling having so little disposable cash.

In anticipation for my first taste of money for a while I’ve already allocated my spending funds, of course I’ve dedicated money to living expenses, a bit into my ‘deposit’ savings account (I’m a sensible girl after all):

1. First stop hair dressers, $145 I haven’t had my hair done since November, my mane is too long, deshaviled ends, lots all it vitality, I can’t style it other than pulling the think locks into a pony tail and that nest I endeavour to cover my age is presenting its ugliness.

2. I’ll make an appointment with my oncologist. Yeah, yeah, I have my priorities in check, hair, then specialist... He’s really expensive! $380 for 15 minutes

3. Then, David Jones for some clinique toner $42 (I think), I ran out during January, just cleanser or soap and water have been doing justice, but I miss that really nice clean feel.

4. Followed by MeccaCosmetica. I need, yes, need more Grace Hot Salt Scrub $55. I’ve used the remnants of all my other ones – 3 sub quality scrubs have been smothered, quite generously over my body to disposed of faster. I think I have one more DYI spa day left.
5. I’ll finally buy my own Buffy the Vampire Slayer collection. I’ve borrowed seasons 1 – 3 from friends, last time I saw any Buffy was on TV years ago. I remember how much I love it, I just have to have my own set. If anyone knows where to get the collectors edition seasons 1 - 7 for less than $320 please let me know (if online, postage approx $30, then I'll consider time etc).

* Next month I may look at buying Angel :-)

6. I’m going to buy a nice bottle of wine, I adore our cheap Aussie wine, I’m pleasantly surprised by a good drop for under $10 but I’m quivering at the thought of my first sip of Saltram approx $34

7. Now that I’m working in the Big Bad City and I’m between the collection of clothes I have i.e old suits I can’t do up and my skirts I bought last year hanging off me in the most undesirable, unflattering ways, I’ll look for a decent crisp white shirt, I’ve never been comfortable in ‘shirts’ or ‘blouses’ its just not my style. But I’ll look for one, a shirt is said to be a staple in every womans wardrobe.

8. I’m going to order a cocktail next time I’m out partying. There’s a fast $18 - $20 down.

9. Pay my parking fine $179 for parking outside my own house!

Hurry March 31st!!!!!

Bad Friend

I received a phone call from MMM, the one that dumped me for a hooker, yeah great. It was his birthday party at Tonic Lounge and surprise-surprise I got an invitation, trying to gain numbers I suspect. I was to be my friends date to a birthday party at SoHo just around the corner so I said I’ll try to drop in. Why? *slap* *slap*

I visualised my outfit for a big night out, my opera gloves and fur were going to have an adventure to the cross… A few hours later the storms brewing outside combined with the thought of public transport I pulled out.

Why is it when it rains it pours? Last night it was literally, M called he’s back from Nevada, Tennessee, other US states that I just ‘yepped’ my way through the list and Hong Kong, he’s back home for a month before his next trip, he was wondering what I was doing ‘later’. No buddy, not going back there…

With my new plans of staying out of the horrible weather I watched Step Up and Firewall, was in my PJ’s by 8pm, no alcohol consumed.

A bit later another friend called to catch up for coffee and cake. I had just put in my second DVD for the night and though I was very tempted, Mickey’s desserts are to die for I thought canceling plans with one person, not attending another birthday party and not taking up M’s invitation I best stay in my very comfortable and warm lounge room… So that’s what I did.
