BEEN THERE - OBSESSED WITH VENICE
I watched The Italian Job last night.
Opening scene's are of St Marks square. I'm missing the beauty of Venice. I loved my experience in Venice so much that I felt my eyes start to water.

I'm craving to be on a gondola, to be serenaded.
I didn't venture on the gondola as I have always believed it to be romantic. As previously mentioned I travel Venice solo.
Until next time...

I have made an agreement with my wonderful friend J. that we attend Carnavale when we are 35. I love the idea of Carnavale. Casanova.
Carnival - Venice, Italy February 25 - March 7
Carnival of Venice In Venice, Carnival first gained widespread popularity in the 18th century. The Venetian tradition of wearing masks and costumes was reportedly started by the "stocking companies"-clubs of young Venetian noblemen intent on amusing their fellow Venetians by organizing parties and spectacles. The gentlemen were famous for the colorful stockings they wore.
Today, Carnival in Venice lasts two weeks. The nights beckon with masked balls and sumptuous parties, and costumed revelers crowd the narrow streets, bridges and squares, while the sounds of trumpets, firecrackers, drums and shouts fill the air. Street musicians, flame and sword-swallowers, jugglers, mimes and magicians entertain passersby on every corner.
But no matter how much fun is had, it all ends at midnight on Shrove Tuesday, when an effigy of Carnival is burned to signal the end of the festival. Everyone parades to the Piazza San Marco in their masks to see the "Concert of Ashes," which is followed by an Ash Wednesday Mass to mark the beginning of Lent.

With tickets to Carnavale approximately EU900.00 I best start saving. WOW I only just thought of taking into consideration the cost of the costume, the mask, air fares and accommodation. I'll buy a lottery ticket ;-)
I must make another trip between now and then... (Long lived the saving idea).
