Setting clocks and scales forward, it doesn’t work for me.
I had a heart attack this morning when I jumped on the scales, my wonderful friend puts her scales 6kg forward. Why? Who does this fool? The first thing I do is work back to the ‘real’ rate. Does this work as extra incentive for anyone?
Clocks and watches, my watch is 3 minutes fast, I wasn’t aware of the inadvertent time change post day-light-saving, it was an accident. Beneficial as it may for somebody such as myself that lives by the philosophy ‘I can get anywhere in Sydney in 15 minutes’. As soon as I realised my watch and car clock are a bit fast I took it into account, I have a 10am appointment the car clock says its 10am, I think to myself ‘I’ve got 5 minutes up my sleave’. I’m no fool.
Do you set your clocks and scales forward – or back?

They are what they are, don't really see the point in not just accepting life for what it is.
I set my boyfriends mobile phone clock forward so that when he sets his alarm to get up for work it is actually giving him more time otherwise he would never make it to work. Problem is he turns the TV on most mornings and the real time is in the left hand corner. The next step is to pull out the TV cord knowing he would probably be too sleepy each morning to try and fix it.
He knows I did this I think.
Cute blog!!
I never deliberately set my watch or the time on my phone 5 minutes ahead, but they always seem to end up that way. I never correct them.
I have my home clocks set 10 minutes fast.
That relates more to my anal belief that I refuse to be late. Plus it gives me one more snooze button push on the those mornings I whimper at the sound of my alarm.
I'm aware it's fast time but it means I get that extra 10 minutes sleep or 10 minutes when I've finished getting ready.
The scales though? God the horror, no thanks.
My alarm clock is 10 minutes fast...I just never reset it so now it is the norm. My car clock and watch are 5 minutes fast...a bit like general they just got that way and I left them. I ma NEVER late but often leave early :)
Indy: Exactly! My scales are set at zero and my intention is for my watch and clock to be exact.
lulu - thanks for stopping by :-) Fun game to play!
GB - Mines 3 minutes, i can't be bothered changing it - i'll just wait for daylight saving again
Lucy - But you KNOW its 10 minutes fast, don't you just allow for that? So really you're cheating on yourself not time?!?!? Sorry i just can't get my head around it.
scorpy - Noooooooooo! Your alarm is 10 minutes fast :-l
I never hit the snooze button....ever!!!I like to be early but I don't like setting my alarm at irregular times so I set the clock 10 minutes fast in the bedroom....the alarm is set for 0530...so I actually get up at 0520. Its amazing what you get done in 10 minutes ;)
hehe, I live by the "everywhere in Melbourne is 20 minutes away" philosophy as well. Somehow it never quite works out that way though.
My alarm clock is 20 minutes early. I like having a few minutes to myself just thinking about things so it works out pretty well most days. But sometimes I get a bit stubborn and look at the clock and think "you liar I have PLENTY of time" and then end up being late. ugh.
Scorpy, the snooze button is my friend on most days. I give myself plenty of time to get ready.
M - thats me, I think "you liar I have PLENTY of time" I dont want to be a liar - so I have it the correct time (give or take 3minutes)
I've got an obsession for having to have my watch, my alarm clock, the clock on my mobile, the time on the microwave, the clock on my Mac and the wall clock to be exactly right.
Obsessed? Much.
I'm given to calling 1194 to check the time to the second on my watch, then setting all the other clocks from my watch.
My scales are digital, and zero before I step on them.
And snooze button...mmm, snooze...
Hahaha. I'm with you, Nat! I can't fool myself! :-P
I find it much better to set all my clocks on time and just wake up a few minutes earlier. Hahaha
I would like to set my clock fast on my cell phone, but it always resets itself to atomic time. Oh well!
nick - that's a little much isn't it?
Tim - Exactly! ;-)
Sarah - I wish my phone was that smart...
Uhmm, perhaps. But I only do it once every six months or so.
