How much Is TOO Much???

It’s stock take sale time… On my lunch break Friday I went for a little walk through Myer, I don’t like the current fashion (miss that floor), I have enough shoes (does a woman ever have enough shoes?), make up and perfume – nup. Stockings / pantyhose at 30% off not bad but it would take me 30 minutes in the line. I thought homewares, I love home homewares… I don’t really have a home, but when I’m all really to move into my new house when I finally get around to purchasing (so many ‘when’s’ there) I want to have most kitchen ware on hand.

Looking around I found... Peugeot makes salt and pepper grinders. I want them!

They're so beautiful

Tthe world's sixth-largest car manufacturer has been making pepper, salt and coffee mills for longer than they have been making cars. The Peugeot brothers converted the family mill to produce steel in 1810 and began producing pepper mills in 1842, when the steel pepper mill mechanism was invented by a Peugeot engineer.

The mechanism was so reliable that it has remained in production, virtually unchanged, ever since and remains the most reliable on the market, so much so that it comes with a lifetime guarantee.

Today the Peugeot mills are made at Besançon, in south-west France. Nowadays they use machines but the production process itself has hardly changed in more than 100 years.

The difference between Peugeot pepper mills and salt mills is the mechanism.

Pepper mills use durable hardened steel, for its exacting machining and long term performance. Case hardening is used; a tempering process that makes the grinding head as hard as a ball bearing.

Peugeot pepper mill grinding mechanisms have two different size grooves: Channeling and Grinding. Channeling grooves (the larger ones) are designed to line up the peppercorns and to crack them. The Grinding grooves (the smaller ones) do the actual fine grinding process.

The larger grooves are still individually hand cut into the mechanism using the techniques utilized in the 1842, when the mechanism was first created by Peugeot.

A Tribute - Gianfranco Ferre

Gianfranco Ferre passed away June 15th 2007. He's one of my favourite (and worn almost daily) designers.

Now I must do whats right and try to fit into those white linen pants ;-)

Ferre started his career as an accessories and jewellery designer, and then moved on to clothes. His unofficial title as Italy's architect of fashion came thanks to the degree in architecture he obtained in 1969 from Milan's Polytechnic Institute that inspired his designs.

He started his company in the mid-1970s, but his major leap came in 1989, when he was tapped by Bernard Arnault to be the top designer for Christian Dior. At the time, it was almost unheard of for a non-French designer to take the reins of the Parisian house. Ferre stayed on at Dior until 1996, when he returned to Milan to tend to his own men's and women's collections.

Ferre's style was based on simple and structured lines, and the white blouse became one of his trademarks. His suits were used by businesswomen around the world seeking a sophisticated look.

I *Heart* This Clip

I’m neither for nor against Paris. Okay, so she’s made a career of attending parties, wearing some great outfits – some absolutely shocking ‘getup’s’, I think she’s made some absurd decisions – money talks...

I don’t pick up gossip rags, my attention span for Entertainment News is less than 30seconds, but when I saw this I couldn’t stop laughing!

The Queens Birthday Long Weekend

The Queens birthday long weekend… I’m sure many have seen the pictures or news on the storms we New South Welshman experienced. I’m happy to report the anticipated holiday at the Hunter Valley for a delightfully debauched weekend of wine tasting, cheese and chocolate eating was far from happening when two of the girls decided to head up to Queensland and poor me not knowing if I had money coming through the door in the next week, it was a blessing to miss it the storm, the floods...

Instead Friday night I had dinner with Mr J. at my home away from home, good thing it was walking stumbling distance. I was running a little late (I know - I know, it's only up the road) When I got there, mustn't have been more than 7 minutes late Mr J. had already ordered his dinner and it arrived just as I walked in. He said he was early and didn't think it would come so fast! SO FUCKING RUDE! He lost almost all points right then and there.

As per usual with Mr J. after we finished dinner he asked 'what do you want to do now?' This statement frustrates me greatly, it was a pet peeve with my ex-BF. I'm happy to stay somewhere for hours and just chat, noooo... He needs to 'do something' we went to Mickeys for hot chocolate and cake. I was anxiously embarrassed when he started 'resighting' his lyrics. He only got a peck for a kiss good night.

Saturday night I was faced with a conundrum - picked up by the best looking guy that's ever shown interest in mere little me (Ryan Reynolds look-a-like). What does a gal do? Chit chat and play coy hoping that glass of champers he just bought will lead to many more drinks over several more occasions or seize the moment and kiss this gorgeous man as in the harsh light of day he may disappear.

Carpe diem! I went for it, I went home with him... It was a blur of arms, legs, skin, lips, kisses of passion unleashed. Nails running down his torso, my back involuntarily arching with pleasure.

I can still here the music playing softly in the background as we laid closely on the bed wet with sweat. His arm around me. We spooned, his warm breathe on the back of my neck, the kissing and light nibbling on my ear... The drift off to sleep with his body sculptured into mine. I remember waking in the middle of the night, his muscular golden arm still in its place, his breathe steady caressing my skin. He woke. His fingers navigated my body..

Again...

And again....

Sunday morning (yep, I spent the night) I tried to get a cab home, 45 minutes later a couple of distressed calls to V and a taxi company that refused to pick me up from 'a corner'. My last resort... I rang dad like a damsel in distress, he came to my resew and picked me up within minutes and dropped me off to my friends place - no explanation necessary or I should say required.

Chez Rene for dinner, still recovering from a barely sleeping night, a day of DVD's and hang over cures. Dad and his partner took me for dinner as per usual 3 bottles of wine sit on the table. Entree, I tried Crocodile for the first time served with Sauce Bearnaise. It was unbelievably good. Like fishy chicken. Main was Canard a l'Orange (Half duck, partly boned, roasted and served with an orange sauce), cooked to perfection. Dessert Mousse au chocolat - Dark and white chocolate mousse, served with chocolate sauce. The richest meal I think I've ever had... The end of the meal all 3 bottles of wine consumed.

The end of an era. Chez Rene Restaurant closed it's doors after 37 years of trading.

Monday a nice long lunch with mum, sister and nephew at Bondi Junction, I was tired, hang over. Mum wanted to go to a movie, I want to sleep. We went home, put on some bad TV and I was asleep on the lounge by 6pm

BOOM! BOOM!

I said at the beginning of the year I wanted to start my own business. It just occurred to me – I have! I registered all the little thingy-majiggies earlier this year and I’m working as a property consultant. I have had 3 months steady income since inception, how many new businesses sustain that? I have 2 consultancy contracts pending to cover me for the next 6 months. BOOM!

I just realised I’ve been looking at the situation from the wrong angle… All this time I’ve had what I wanted, my own Property Consulting Business.

**I’ve been watching too much Entourage

"Yes" People

Most of my current role is customer service; I’m that person that needs to fix something when it’s broken. Write that polite letter when there’s a complaint. Negotiate the best deal for my owner without being obnoxious... I’ve had similar roles my entire career; I’ve been told I’ve perfected the art of making uncomfortable demands while maintaining a smile. I don’t think that’s endearing.

I’ve taken over a position where a ‘yes person’ was employed. You know the ones… Can you fix a leaking tap? Yes. Can you orgainse an electrician? Yes. Can you replace all the blinds in my office? Yes. Can you replace an interior office door to our suite? Yes. Can I have $3,000 off my rent for 2 months? Yes. Can you pay for my next trip to the Caribbean? Yes.

I don’t understand the advance position these tenants have over my owner, educating them is killing me, here I come…. No. No. No. Not owner’s responsibility. ‘Oh, you negotiated with the previous agent to pay at the end of next month when you’re already 3 months in arrears? Really, can you provide me with the details of the agreement in writing?’ It was a verbal agreement ohhhh… And if I have to say ‘no tenant can legally withhold rent’ once more I’m going to scream!

With only 2 days left of my contract my prime owner told me late last night I’m fantastic, courteous and diplomatic – can I have *that* in writing?

Balancing Act

Press Play

The guy I crashed into last week rang me to pay for his repair and not returning my call… One of my best mates coming to help me and giving the best hug in the world… Feeling a body builders arms wrapped tight around me… Seeing my ex BF early on Thursday morning and feeling decidedly blank… Mr J. visiting me on Thursday and taking me out to lunch… Picking up my car from ex BF and on the receiving end of a hug that lingered too long… Seeing a glimpse of his wife through the dark distance… An unanswered text message to a man… A casual drink with another man… A declined invitation from M. to catch up… A drink set next Friday with a fun guy… A day in front of the television coughing and sneezing clutching on to a box of tissues… A conversation stopper with my second cousin… A night out of cocktails with the girls at Hemisphere… Crossing another venue off in my ‘to do list’… Feeling alone in a crowd of 11 beautiful girls when I only know one… Talking of the good ol’ times and realising they weren’t so good for her… Strolling down stairs and seeing long time familiar faces… Dancing in a corset is hard work… A man kissing my long gloved hand… The beautiful extroverted personalities of new friends… A pending invitation to a girlfriend unanswered… A kiss from a Cuban man… A couple in their mid 50’s requesting my company in their hotel room… My sudden exit… A shared cab ride home with a Melbournian who invited me for lunch the next day… The polite decline… A long sleep in… No gym workout in 7 days… A visit to my mum’s aunt in palliative care… A night at a friends place with a bottle of wine… Almost 2 hours late for work today… An extra strong coffee… Wearing super casual clothes and then realizing my outfits worth thousands… Eager to find out if I still have a job on Friday… Unbelievably nervous with the ‘possible’ renegotiation of my work contract… Life, it must get easier.

Stillness…

I have been preparing myself for this moment since I heard the news. I saw him approaching, my stomach flipped, I felt the tension behind my eyes, my mouth was dry.

Why do I put myself into this situation, I know he has a power over me, he intoxicates me… He crosses the road moves closely to me and kisses me on the cheek awkwardly; he’s never awkward always in control. I smile meekly and take the smallest step back; his presence makes my body melt.

I hand him my keys and wait a moment while he disappears inside, a few deep breathes subtly in case he sees my weakness. He returns and nods, he almost took my hand to cross the road, he smiles to himself and I know that look, his look...

I maneuver gracefully into his car making sure my knee length skirt isn’t revealing my covered legs, he tells me ‘you look good, I like your stockings with the boots and your cute leather gloves’ he touches the soft kid leather, my eyes follow his lingering touch. My heart breaks as the sun glistens on his wedding band.

He tells me he wishes he had more time to talk to me… I say with all my might in candor, ‘yes so do I, I’d like to know… How’s married life?’ It kills me to mutter the word ‘married’.

He pulls into the parking area adjacent to the station and turns the ignition off, we gaze at each other, he asks me what I’m thinking… I want your moist lips on mine, to feel your warm breath on my neck, the brush of your hand on my bare skin. I say ‘nothing’. He leans over and gives me a kiss on the lips, small, shallow like you would give a sibling. I raise my hand to the door handle, he shifts in his seat and tells me my new hair cut is beautiful. I say thank you is almost a whisper, lengthen my hand and gentle ran my leather clad fingers down the side of his face, I paused before leaning into him, I kissed him goodbye.

As I slid out of the car, I was silently triumphant. I could be in his presence without being totally consumed by his power over me. I sighed as I crossed the path slowly moving away from him, to still be in love with this man, now a married man…

It was an accident

I rear-ended someone. My first real car accident, given my style of dynamic driving most would think I’d crash around a pole, end up in a house or drive off a cliff but no, I was driving 15 – 20k’s along Centennial Park this evening and the Ford in front of me suddenly stopped and my brakes didn’t activate as effectively as they should. The Ford has superficial scratches on its rear bumper; my grill has been compressed, unable to close properly. Cause of the incident I would say the brakes on my baby Audi – but wait they were replaced on 3rd February? My brake pedal sounds like a squeeze toy with a pinhole. Jez is on his way over to look at her to assess drivability and possible liability… Remember it was D that did the work for me – this could get messy. I love Jez, a panel beaters giving a house call and I know I’ll get a big hug too!

Quoting

Excuse me. Do you speak English?

Chuck, holidaying in Sydney from Texas

Very confused by this question as I was standing in the middle of Sydney CBD, he then asked for directions to Hyde Park and get this! He’d never heard of Bondi Beach!

Rainbows In My Wine

On Anzac Day Vikki was reminiscing a day / night / past Anzac Day when we went to 'some pub' and met a couple of sailors, the great day / night - I was drawing a blank, I sincerely could not remember and tried convincing her that she must have been with someone else... After too much time 'one was a dentist' and one outcome 'We said we would go out on a double date with them and never called' I finally remembered. Since my memory is seriously on the blink I'm testing my poor little brain to keep a better register of the last couple of weeks social events. Random Observation: Some tenants are avoiding me in the building because they owe rent
Money Spent: Lots of money on wine :-)

I don't know why they put _____ on teevee? I can't stand to watch that shit!

Question stolen from Stormin' interview... I claimed I could list 50 shows I can't stand, here goes:

  1. Big Brother, it's been on for so many years! Seriously I'd have more fun sitting on a park bench in Kings Cross and watch people walk past.
  2. Australia's Funniest Home Videos - I'd rather stick bamboo under my finger nails than be subjected to 30 seconds of this!
  3. Jamie's Kitchen - what is the fuss with this guy? He's damn rude, so what if he can cook. Be nice!
  4. Australia Has Talent - has anyone watched this? The only thing these people have as far as 'talent' goes is making a fool of themselves.
  5. Rove - he annoys me, the only skit I enjoy it the 'What the..'
  6. All Saints, some Aussie sitcom makers should be shot. Not all Australians talk like that!
  7. The Bill - maybe its the accents,I just don't have time for it.
  8. Grey's Anatomy, McDreamy, McSteamy = Me Sicky!
  9. CSI:NY - enough already, CSI is great, CSI: Miami has the worst script, but the scenery and lack of anything better on Tuesday night time slot makes it bearable. CSI:NY is too much.
  10. Law and Order: Criminal Intent - same lines as CSI, it's overload. Goran just an arrogant prick. I love SVU.
  11. The Simpsons - I used to enjoy it. Now I can't sit through one episode, I blame my ex-BF, he would want to watch the 5 in a row so we wouldn't leave the house until 1pm on Saturday and Sunday's
  12. Desperate Housewives - Woman DO NOT behave like this. I think its an embarrassment.
  13. E! every single one of those '50 sexiest' that woman's voice just annoys me and who watches that shit?
  14. X Factor, that spin off show from Australian Idol. What ever happened to that band that won?
  15. Extreme Makeover, I don't need to see this shit
  16. Survivor, admittedly I did watch bits and pieces of the first season, the people are horrible excuses for humans
  17. Deal or No Deal - Intellect of a 5 year old required to watch this
  18. Ugly Betty, I tried, I really tried. I wanted to like it. I think she's too stupid, I find it frustrating and don't understand the hype.
  19. The Benny Hill Show - Hate, Hate, Hate it! So stupid!
  20. The Wire - I was bored within 3 minutes. Bad acting, bad script.
  21. Airport - there are idiots out there. How can these idiots afford to travel? Why do people want to watch that shit?
  22. The Con Test - wannabe actors. Give it up!
  23. Gladiators - Do you remember it?
  24. Married with Children - I enjoyed it when I was younger, this show has seriously dated.
  25. The Biggest Loser - I have a fat people phobia, seeing all that flubber jingle makes me ill
  26. Super Nanny, I could be a super nanny too if I yelled like that
  27. Hey Hey it's Saturday - I know, I know, lots of people loved it. Darrel Sommers was an idiot, actually he still is.
  28. Dancing with the Stars - Its a bad show, i know it, for some reason I've watched man episodes
  29. *insert name* that Ice dancing celebrity thing. How bad was that!
  30. 1 vs 100 - who are these idiots?
  31. Judge Judy - who has watched this and thought half way through 'I could be doing something much better with my time'
  32. Celebrity Dog School - enough said
  33. Saving Babies - Nooooo! I don't need to see that! Baby with tubes and alike everywhere, mothers crying. No.
  34. Today Tonight - A tabloid current affairs program nightmare!
  35. Texas Hold'em Poker, play the game, don't watch it
  36. Bridzillas, I watched 5 minutes of this and asked myself 'how is it these woman have someone to love them for the rest of their lives and I can't met a guy that wants a coffee with me?'
  37. Yasmine's getting Married - it didn't even last through the season!
  38. Southpark - I hate this damn show.
  39. Pimp Your Ride - OMG! Who are these people!?!
  40. 3rd Rock from the Sun - I thought it was quirky at first then it just got ridiculous. Some shows should never go past 2 years.
  41. Star Trek - all of them, its overkill really...
  42. Joey, what a dismal spin off from such a great series!
  43. Queer Eye for the Straight Guy - Ok, good concept, a bit of fun but why the fuck do they run everywhere? They're on a deadline? Give them an extra day FFS!
  44. Home and Away - enough already!
  45. The Ellen Degeneras Show, her voice is horrible and her manner disturbing
  46. The Drew Carey Show - I liked it in the first year, they're not pleasant characters
  47. Who Wants to be a Millionaire - Are you sure? Hurry up already!
  48. My Name is Earl - one episode is enough, they're just not likable characters.
  49. Mr Bean - I detest Rowan Atkinson!
  50. Jerry Springer Show - Do these people actually exist or are they actors?
I almost cheated by adding BB - 1 through to 6 years (I think its been going on for that long). Generally as you can see I dislike reality TV, talk shows and game shows. I could add many more English sitcoms, but I don't *get* English humour. What do you hate to watch or avoid like the plague?

What Do You Want To Be When You Grow Up?

I was over at Practically Perfect and Rosanna was writing about how many times she’s changed her mind about what she wants to be when she grows up, I realised I've changed my mind a million times or more, my highlights and laughable low points:

I wanted to be a cabaret performer - I was never good enough dancer and the few of you that have heard me sing regret it. ALLLLLL. Thaaaaat. JAAZZZZZZZ!!!!!!

I wanted to be the next Nadia Comaneci - I think I’ve landed on a balance beam twice after a back flip. Ever.

I wanted to be a train driver, as a child I was interested to see the tunnels – novelty would definitely wear thin.

I wanted to be a Saxophone player, I thought it would be ultra trendy, I don’t think I can tell apart a semi quaver to any other note (I don’t even know the names) Now I would like to learn to play the Trumpet, for one rift in particular from a Big Bad Voodoo Daddy track – it’s never too late

I planned the best plan to become a Cult Leader - I still have my notes, one day maybe...

I wanted to be a sword fighter – Fencing lessons last year were a start.

I had wishes of being a Matador – where my mind was, I don’t know?

I wanted to be the first female Australian Prime Minister - I don't enjoy talking politics at all. I met my politics quoter last weekend with a 5-minute chat. I couldn’t care less about issues that don’t concern me directly. Selfish? Most definitely.

I dreamt of being a lover to Casanova – I still do…

I wanted to be a fighter pilot (thanks to watching Top Gun many times) - Stop laughing!!!

I dreamt of producing a talent show where the audience chooses who wins – taken!

I thought of being a forensic scientist – I learnt fast that I can’t stand the sight of blood and just the word needle makes my skin tingle in the most uncomfortable way.

I want to learn to operate a crane - I'm never going to say never

I wanted to knock down most of an ugly eastern suburbs shopping centre and ‘build something pretty’ – look at me now!

Next Week On....

I was watching my favourite TV show last night, I was on the edge of my seat throughout, actually I was sitting tense and hands clenched, I love this show, the first series ever I've been thoroughly addicted to and rearranging my social life to accommodate.

The final scene is Kellerman threatening Sarah and we all know Kellerman is capable of killing at the drop of a hat. He walked into the bathroom and general public audience gal believing he is going to kill her but I'm thinking Kellerman *liked * Sarah and may not actually do what that new horrible little man working for 'The Company' has requested. A cliff hanger at its best!

Next week they show Sarah at the window trying to escape. Cliff hanger ruined!*

Who is producing the advertisements for these series'? Don't they know simplest marketing techniques?

*My mind at ease because I like the character and actress.

Hit me with a ‘G’ Thang

The love / hate relationship with a letter. The lovely MissE gave the the letter "G" for 10 things I like and 10 things I dislike. Gee it was a hard letter hahaha!

Likes

1. Gold
I love gold, what can I say, it’s beautiful, can come in such ornate designs, great way to decorate. I love my gold watch, my gold chains, rings, pendants, bracelets, broaches and I want MORE!

2. Giuseppe Verdi
My favourite composer. Fact. I saw Rigoletto last year it was unbelievable, I challenge anyone to a better concerto than La Donna e Mobile. Early this year La traviata, okay I was whiling Violetta to die already by the third act but the music is to die for.

3. Google
What did we do before Google?

4. Gargoyles
I know many people think they are ugly, but I think they are wonderful, beautiful and a timeless piece of art history.

I have however said about a guy I met ‘he looked like a gargoyle’ and no, that’s not positive hehehe

5. George Gershwin
They can’t take that away from me…

Growing up watching musicals I don’t even know where to start with his marvellous tunes. Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra, Billie Holiday, Nina Simone, Judy Garland all sang his songs. With a line up such as them, Gershwin is a hit.

6. Giovanni Ribisi
I’m a huge fan of his work, an obscure actor that most people wouldn’t know him, I thought he was sensational in Basic and Boiler Room, I’m looking forward to seeing Perfect Stranger. He’s a great edgy actor (you may know him as Phoebe’s brother in Friends)

7. Gothic Architecture
Kinda cheating here, I love gargoyles remember. Beautiful gothic architecture, I could just walk around Europe for days on end fantasising of another time…

8. Gucci
Specifically my Gucci boots, I open the box and the scent of leather is intoxicating, the feel is smooth, I love to caress the curve of the boot. The heel is a 4” gold bamboo, the undulating bumps send shivers up my spine thinking about it.

They look so sexy, I feel so sexy when I wear them, however I don’t wear them often, as I’m too afraid to scuff them.

9. Gymnastics
I loved gymnastics as a kid. I went once a week after school for years. I could do cart wheels on balance beam, I once did a back flip. The bars I would have twirling competitions with A. I wanted to be a gymnast. Ha, now I struggle to touch my toes and the closest I’ll get to it is watching the Olympics

10. George Castanza
Can’t Stand Ya! How hilarious is this character! Many years of watching him, laughing with him, at him, feelings of overwhelming embarrassment. So great! I miss Seinfeld.

Remember: It’s not a lie if you believe it

Dislikes

1. Giant woman
I have an irrational fear of woman that is both taller and fatter than me. I can’t control it. I try to avoid them but proximity is still an issue.

2. Ghosts
I don’t actually believe in ghosts, I never want to be proven wrong.

3. Gravity
What can I say… I don’t want my breasts to hang, we blame gravity. It is interesting however, if gravity was a little lighter we would all be taller.

4. Green Day
I don’t like a single song and don’t understand the hype!

5. Gangster lingo
It’s ridiculous! The kids of today have such little comprehension of the English language and there they are talkin’ like Snoop... Gangster Dictionary .

6. Gadgets
They may be great but I just don’t have the patience to work out how to use them!

7. Gypsy’s
There were so many Cikáni, when I was in Czech Republic, they were on almost every street corner begging for money. There were groups of kids that would work in packs and pick pocket from not only the tourists but the locals. Travesty on such beautiful lands. Read a little on history of Cikáni České Republika.

8. Garbage
It’s smelly and consuming the environment. What’s to like?

9. Gardens – the upkeep
Gardens are pretty; the maintenance to hard for me to deal with. I have a weakness for landscape architects, each one I’ve seen is damn hot

10. Gastroenteritis
Enough said - Yuck

A New Week

Job Status: I GOT PAID! Money hit my account today – smiles a plenty!

A four-day week! I love it. I’m starting a petition to make every working week 4 days. Who’s on board?

Gym workouts: I thought I’d be a good little girl and go to a class on Monday night. I wanted to do a Pump class. I went to Bondi Junction instead of Randwick, I did 30 minutes of ‘Body Attack’ it was horrible and boring (hence leaving early)

Movies watched: Ferris Bueller's Day Off, There’s Something About Mary, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, The Big Hit, Buying the Cow, Two for the Money , 8 episodes of Angel, season 1 - I know it's a lot, but I had 4 days off and not much expendable cash

Reading: Bergdorf Blondes *blush*

Diet: lots of chocolate on Easter Sunday. If it’s not given to me I wont eat it. Creamy large bowl of pasta, shared a pizza and did I mention chocolate?

Alcohol consumption: averaging 2 glasses of wine 3 days a week. I’ll try and maintain that consumption

Song stuck in my mind: It aint no fu-un if a nigga can’t ge-et none… Snoop Doggy Dog

Money Spent: $85 on Easter presents for the family

I Hate Real Estate Agents!!!

Before anyone jumps down my throat – yes I’m still an agent (technically, but not practicing), that’s why I can say it :-P

Take this prime example of misleading advertising:

I called out of interest. Those strata levies would kill me.

$560K - $580K

Yep! Affordable my arse! Affordable for whom? Not this first home buyer doing it alone!

Na Zdraví! It's Easter Long Weekend!

This season I’ve started watching House, I enjoy it immensely, he says everything I would want to say but 'grin and bare' it instead. I can not watch this with mother dearest, every episode she attempts to diagnose the illness, I feel like screaming! Just because she works at the Children’s Hospital doesn’t mean she has to know every possible diagnostic. Why can’t she sit back relax and be entertained?

*****************************************************************

I’ve been going through the office file by file assessing what to keep what to dispose and best of all what to follow up to make a bit cashola.

I’m reading a site acquisition proposal and I’m thinking ‘this is similar to how I would write it’ I flip another couple of pages. There’s my ex managing directors name. I prepared the document 4 years ago.

*****************************************************************

My heart breaks:

No, it's not my Audi

*****************************************************************

Why is it when you’re only a few hundred dollars away from being broke (I can’t get into my ‘savings’) Visa decides that’s a great time to charge your annual credit card fee? Also, thanks pay by the month insurance.

I haven’t been paid yet – 5 days overdue.

It’s going to be a quite long weekend; thankfully I have BBQ’s and dinners at friend’s homes to keep the social expenditure low.

*****************************************************************

I’m Clarice! I had a guy stop me in the street and ask ‘who are your shoes’ I glanced sideways smiled and kept walking. Only thing going through my mind was this:

You're sooo ambitious, aren't you...? You know what you look like to me, with your good bag and your cheap shoes? You look like a rube. A well-scrubbed, hustling rube with a little taste...

I don’t even know what a ‘rube’ is however when he says it, it doesn’t sound complimentary.

*****************************************************************

I was in Bondi Junction with my mum on Saturday shopping; we bumped into Car Stalker guy. I had no choice other than introduce him to my mum…. Now she’s met The Car Stalker AND Dr D.

She said he has a lovely accent; great smile and physique but he has to do something with his eyebrows and wears too much cologne.

*****************************************************************

I found this:

I had my trepidations posting this information but this is my blog, my life and hey, most of you know intimate details about me by now anyway.

I've made an agreement with one of my closest friends, I need to loose 5kg, she needs to loose 30kg - we're going to support each other.

*****************************************************************

I have about 25 half written posts, I ordinarily write, post, not even bother with a proof read, read back in a few months when I can’t remember what I did that weekend.

I often see something interesting someone else has written and steal borrow their idea or I’m compelled to write a post based on their topic, well, I start something, I copy the link and 4 weeks later I’ve forgotten Lately I've been a bit busy with work so I click ‘keep’ on my RSS feed and come back to it in 3 weeks time.

How long is too long to write a rebuttal / complementary / commentary post based on another bloggers post and link back to it?

Passed Over by the Sloth-Slayer

This tickles my funny bone: an Atheist chickie cancels a date with an Islamic man to go to a Jewish function.

Last night was my first Passover traditional dinner with a girlfriend’s family.
The dinner festivities were moderately orthodox therefore 28 pages of prayers were read, each of us reading a portion translated from the Torah (look at me, I know a little bit). Throughout the 40 minutes or so it took to read all the prayers, salute our wine, point at the 'whatever the word is bread' and eat the bits and pieces required jokes and witty banter being exchanged ‘child ‘smoked’’ instead of smote, ‘run like rams’ said in a sing song manner… Typical when it gets to my part, giggling with my 2 friends like we were back in the school classroom ‘words by the sloth slayer’ the table erupt in laughter, oops soothsayer. I felt my face go red - too much watching of the Buffy.

30+ people around the table eating, laughing (sometimes at me), kosher wine is so not pleasant and there’s only so much Matzo a person can consume. I really do enjoy Matzo Ball Soup. I’ll never make it or buy it. Dinner was awesome, must be the best veal I’ve ever had, I tried brisket for the first time and the sweets, ohh the sweets, so yummy followed by a platter of fruit.

Judaism is like, way cool, (I was near the kids end) so many holidays and celebrations, all the food; I’m overwhelmed with the grace and generosity of my friend’s families for extending the invitations to me. I’ll give them an Easter Egg ;-)

Hair of the Dog

I felt crappy, a hang over from hell. I woke up with full intentions to attend a 9.30am gym class. I laid in bed for too long contemplating the roll over and go back to sleep, then I remembered my limited wardrobe choice of the night before, still can’t fit into most of my clothes. I rolled out of bed and threw on my workout wear, trudged to the bathroom and oops I didn’t do a good job of removing my make up. I went to the gym, would’ve been the hardest workout in my life, on a positive note I did sweat out a lot of alcohol.

When I got home I jumped straight into the shower, it was one of those longer than it should be showers where I just stood there letting the warm water stream over my body before realising what I’m supposed to be doing in the shower… I checked to see if my pay has gone through. No. I’m now officially into my ‘house deposit money’.

I had plans for the day that I was not going to cancel, a friend picked me up at 12.30 and we went to the pub. Yes, I was back at a pub, we had lunch at Bistro Moore. I had the best chilli crab linguine with rocket, peanuts and lemon for the bargain price of $12.50 so impressed for a one-hat restaurant! (I believe it still has a hat?!?!) Will come again for lunch with a bit more time...

We strolled over to the SFS (I know it’s changed but I prefer the old name) to watch the Roosters V Eagles. Another drink, sports ground prices are just ridiculous! Since when did the tickets for GA become $28? What happened to the blue-collar sport league? Not impressed. Equally not impressed with the performance of my beloved team. What has happened to you? We left before the game ended ‘to beat the crowd’ ha! To avoid seeing another try… Come on boys; show us what you’re made of! We have some great players, we’re just not using them to their full potential, it’s like the boys have just given up, us fan’s wont give up of you.
