Setting myself up for a larger win

I won a bit of money with lotto, it’s my best win so far at $35.50, my previous best win was $25.35. In at the local Surry Hills newsagency collecting my winnings when mister homeless guy say’s through the door “Excuse me ma’am, do you have a few cents you could spare for a cool drink and a bus fare?” My immediate reaction was a short, cold “No” then quickly I said “Actually, wait” I handed over $5.50.

On a Night Like This…

There is not much better than a 3:00pm phone from a friend with a spare ticket to a concert. Last night I saw Kylie! What a great night out.

The Crazy, the fun and the Ridiculous

No matter how many times I say I’ll never TUI, I do it, this time I took a friend down this treacherous path. We must learn to be stronger; nothing is a good idea after 2 bottles of faux champers between 2 girls.

There are too many people at the gym at 8:00am on a Saturday morning; didn’t they have a boozy night like me? Only when I attend the gym does the instructor give out lolly bags.

I spent most of Saturday at the office, it was too a nice day for it. I met the Cibster for an early movie, A Prairie Home Companion its worth seeing for the impressive cast, the wonderful singing and of course the ‘bad joke song’ drinks at a local bar afterwards then another, addiment I was not going to get trashy drunk like or previous nights out. I invited a couple of friends that didn’t have plans for the night. Worlds colliding…Ever been asked “how do you two know each other?” by somebody who doesn’t know your blog exists and you don’t want them to know?

I really wanted to get down to the beach on Sunday but the clouds were rolling in and my friend was attending a bris (don't get me started on the ceremony for this occasion) , there was just not enough time in the day! We went shopping for hours and hours, I was given an invitation to her wedding, I love hand delivery! First invitation to be given, I was totally chuffed. Then given a lesson on the Jewish Wedding Traditions, I’m so excited for her!

Sunday night I was overly tempted to right my wrongs from Friday night texting, instead I left my phone in the other room watched Spanglish and cried more than was required.

Monumental Events of the Past Week

I went to The Clock Hotel with a girlfriend and didn’t consume a drop of alcohol.

*****************************************************************

I was supposed to go away with M last weekend, to Mudgee for a dirty romantic get away. I cancelled; I’m not going to fake enthusiasm for the occasion.

*****************************************************************

I had a house warming to attend last Tuesday night and totally out of my nature I wrote the address incorrectly, so there I was calling my former work colleagues for the address (no answer) so I was driving around Bellevue Hill trying to identify one their cars, I gave up and half hour later I find it was right next door to a building I used to manage.

*****************************************************************

I received an email from a mother fucking cock sucking cunt, AKA the on-site sales person, personal attack on my experience in real estate, I’ve met briefly twice and had half a dozen conversations; he doesn’t know a thing about my history or qualifications. People who throw stones shouldn’t live in glass houses, he is a commission only agent and EVERY sales lead comes through me… HA! I hold a licence more then him and I’m approximately 25 years younger - Go fuck yourself you wanker!

*****************************************************************

I had dinner with one of my girlfriends, one of my girlfriends I regard as my strongest. She told me over dinner she has been on anti-depressants for over 5 months; she felt absolutely everything in her life was falling around her. We cried together over our corn chips and salsa.

*****************************************************************

I had a Chimichanga for the first time, only so I can say Chimichanga and of course so I can write on my blog “I had a Chimichanga”

*****************************************************************

Julia and I have planned our joint Birthday Party, our theme this year… It will be sexy, that’s all.

*****************************************************************

I saw Little Miss Sunshine, really enjoyed it. I was giggling most of the way through it. I’m surprised the last 4 movies I’ve seen I’ve really enjoyed.

*****************************************************************

I have a huge secret, I told one of my girlfriends last week over a glass of wine, I’m keeping it very quite so this way if it fails no-one will really know it’s a failure.

*****************************************************************

I received sad news, my cousin’s little baby (little, as I remember him) died in Czech Republic last Tuesday, he was 21 months old.

*****************************************************************

On my way out of the office last Wednesday I feel down the stairs, people would usually point out that’s what I get for wearing 4” stilettos, but I stepped on a Pepsi bottle top and lost balance, knee and ankle buckled. Who drinks Pepsi?

*****************************************************************

I was at Couples World last week during my lunch break; I couldn’t bare to go there on the weekends! While I was sitting eating my lunch I burst into tears when this song came on!

*****************************************************************

Being at the races on Melbourne Cup day took me back to my old life, the people, the lifestyle…

*****************************************************************

For the first time since I commenced this job I woke up and didn’t want to come in. Not related to above comments from the cock sucking real estate agent

*****************************************************************

Every time I go on-site I go through Milton to stop by the best pie shop, this week they didn’t have 3 of my favourite pies.

*****************************************************************

I flicked on Girls of the Playboy Mansion for a couple of minutes last night – no comments. Mother said to me “if you ever decide to be a playboy bunny you’re moving out” wrong on so many levels

*****************************************************************

I went for a bike ride on Sunday afternoon, it was the first time on a motorbike, what a beautiful piece of machinery it is, an exquisite BMW R1200. It’s huge news for me, I’ve had 3 men tell me they would take me for a ride and it never eventuated. Now I can cross “Go on a motorbike” off my list, it wasn’t exactly the sun on my skin, cool breeze through the hair experience I envisaged. It was raining.

*****************************************************************
I’ve been invited to a party in early December, Sabre boy will also be there, this will be the first time I’ll see him since our last night together. So, this I have only a few weeks to look damn hot!

*****************************************************************

To lighten up the week, I laughed at this, I mean I really laughed.

Random Quote from Mother #5

“You’ve hit a wall. You need to reinvent yourself or you’re destined to be a failure”

Why Presume Negativity?

Thanks for all your kind words from the last post.

I’m taking a look in my mirror and seeing what others see of me from my actions, words and expressions…

One word: I yelled out ‘CUNT!’ and slammed down the phone while we had a new guy in the office on a trial period, he said ‘I didn’t think I’d ever hear that word come from you’

One smile: There was talk about a smaller Christmas Party for just ‘the boys’ of the office. Men’s Gallery, they didn’t think it appropriate for me to attend nor be interested. I smiled and said ‘What! Sign me up for that one!’

One smirk: I was running a scenario by a colleague and the smirk appeared, she said ‘I didn’t know you had it in you, you are the wrong woman to cross’

One action: I was searching the streets for parking when my parking spot was taken. A rude bastard had witches hats blocking an area, I asked how long it would be blocked off, he told me ‘as long as it takes’. Rude prick! I put my foot down in a road rage-ish manner, my MD saw my driving and thinks that’s how I drove his Merc… Never.

One non-action: I spoke to our solicitor, she was advised of a little altercation I had with a colleague (not any of the above), she asked if I was okay and if I cried. I said ‘No, I’m not going to waste any energy on someone like that’ she expressed her surprise and admiration.

They judge me. Is that how they see me, the real me and I’m blind? I’ve come across as introverted and a walkover. This is how people see me just because I’m calm, rational and accommodating. People are so quick to categorise my persona on a brief meeting. I didn’t think I portrayed myself in such a manner. I’m happy with my relationships with people generally; I’m *fairly* content with myself. I’ve often been told I come across as aloof so I’ve been consciously more attentive and considerate. I guess I’ve gone too far and didn't see it.

Judgement

One word

One smile

One smirk

One action

One non-action

They judge me.

Is that how they see me, the real me and I’m blind?

A Day at the Races…

Wore:
Black silk Marc Jacobs Dress, low heels (3”), pink medium brim hat, matching pink Marc Jacobs handbag.

I was armed with my members pass and clicked my confidence into high-gear; I was meeting a group of girls I’d only meet 2-3 times and I’m fully aware I have nothing in common with a any of the group of 15 or so attending… other than attending the races on Melbourne Cup day.

I arrived just in time to see the streaker run the track; I was wandering the members section blankly looking for the girls when I see a woman wearing a too-too, a Too-too to the races? Her male companion waved, I smiled at the sight of head to toe Versace, I made my way over, kissed on the cheek, introductions to the rest of the group… Champaign? Moët & Chandon thank you.

I called the girls, they were in Peasants Paddock, I had an invitation to stay with this wonderful successful Canberra property developer that I think all men should take example, his fiancée, with the best quote “why does everybody think I’m a French maid? It’s a too-too, I wore this in 2001 when I interviewed *insert mega rich English tycoon name*” Sydney based property developer AKA one of the most delectable men I’ve ever met and his model girlfriend, here on holiday from Spain.

The afternoon flew by with a flutter
of betting, sips of Champaign, meeting many beautiful people, hearing the loss of $1500 on one horse 'to win' The Cup, I compared in my mind the $40 I lost on 2 horses, win & place. I got separated from the couple I knew and stayed with Mr & Ms Gorgeous, the afternoon concluded with a ride home in a Porsche 911 Carrera S Cabriolet and an invitation to Hugo’s for dinner…

GIDDY Ohhhh….

I called my girlfriend with the news, I squealed, she squealed, joint squeal!

FREE members quest pass to The AJC Randwick on Melbourne Cup day!

A members pass, one pass… I don’t know ANYONE attending the races on Tuesday.

I’ve emailed as many people I can think of trying to track down another member’s ticket, trying to find someone, anyone going on Tuesday. Nada. No-one...
*tears*

Musings over Brekkie

Why are there so few women in my industry? And why do the women that attend these industry seminars all play ‘dress-up as a man?’

Intelligence and confidence is really sexy, even when it comes in an older, short balding package

Doltone House is one spectacular venue and the food, breakfast was sensational, I ate so much, yummy yum yum!

It’s really disappointing, not one good looking man in a group of 100+

Why was I seated next to a random guy with a breathing problem? (I don’t know what’s worse noisy breathing or slurping food)

I decided to walk a little through the area instead of just waiting for a cab. I adore the area and I long to reside there

I had 2 coffees with breakfast; I’m now talking a million times faster then usual and bouncing around the office.

Sometimes…

I wish I had pleasant dreams at night
I wish I enjoyed beer
I wish I could have more than one coffee a day
I wish I smoked
I wish I could pause before I speak
… Maybe one day

The Art of Giving Gifts

It’s nearing that time, birthdays and Christmas followed by more birthdays, the silly season starts a little early for me with the first birthday being my Aunts on Saturday. Oh, I’ll write a list so I don’t forget (scroll down, boring), Aunty 28th October, Cousin 3rd November, ME!!!! 18th November, Julia and dad on 8th December, Vikki 11th December, Jade 20th December, Christmas pressie’s for family. But wait, it doesn’t stop there, nephew on 6th January, last but not least mum on 20th January.

I can just see the penny’s going on presents; at least I get some in return!

Now I don’t want to come across as ungrateful and apparently I’m ‘hard to buy for’. There really is an art to giving gifts, the best present I’ve ever received was on my 19th birthday from MFL, 150 long stem red roses and if that wasn’t enough in one of the bouquets there was a bottle of Jean Paul Guiltier perfume with a diamond and amethyst ring (it fit perfectly). The year before, MFL and 2 of his friends chipped in for me to go sky diving with them, apparently I went grey, his sister went in my place.

I’m sorry to say, there was a major turning point in my relationship with my last boyfriend based on a birthday present he bought me. I cried on receipt of his present he didn’t know me at all he bought me 2 tops and a bracelet from Allanah Hill, frilly, lacey tops and costume jewellery! It went back to the store. I hated doing it, it’s just so far from my style, I would never have worn it and am aware of the expense.

Over the last couple of years I’ve been receiving body lotions, perfumes and gift certificates, however appreciative I am and it goes without saying ‘it’s the thought that counts’ how about a little more thought I hate, I mean really hate scented body lotion, who wants to walk around smelling like a fruit salad? On the subject of smell, perfume. Why do people purchase perfume for me ‘based’ on ones I already wear? I wear those perfumes because I like them. I’ve worn one since I was 15, it’s still my favourite and there’s only another 3 I really enjoy wearing. That’s it. I’m slowly trying to get through 4 other bottles… Finally, gift certificates – if I ever receive one Husk again, I’m going to Husk it up your arse! Have I ever mentioned how much I hate incense and shite like that!

Now that I’ve had a rant about receiving gifts, I’m going to turn the tables, give an insight to my gift giving… I give very few birthday presents, much fewer than I would like to, mostly due to budgetary restrictions. Only my closest friends and family, however I make sure it’s something the really need or want (even went through a girlfriend’s cupboard to see what glassware she needed). I have an agreement with my theatre loving girlfriend, we take each other to shows for our respective birthday’s, a little more than I’d usually like to spend but we both enjoy it.

When it comes to giving a gift to my lover I’ve found cost is a non-issue, I’ll crawl through as many stores as it takes until I find the perfect present. It feels like so long ago... There’s another benefit for the single girl, money saving on boyfriend’s presents! When I’m purchasing any old present for a man, friend that is, I will hear a guy say they like something in particular and I’ll go out and find it, give it to him with a smile ear to ear no expense spared but when I’ve started dating a guy I feel awkward and question myself, for example: Dating for a couple of weeks, he tells me his flat mate threw his favourite DVD as a frezbie to the dog, it flies out the window and straight under a truck, I’ll see that movie for $9.95, I think of buying it, I continue walking. No idea why I do it or feel that way.

I’m going to take a leaf out of Treespotter and Julia’s book, here’s a list:

- Digital camera
- Loccitane body lotion
- Mecca Cosmetica, Philosophy Amazing Grace Hot Salt Scrub
- Sony notebook
- GHD Hair Straightener
- This little green summer dress
- Mundial - Classic 10 Piece Knife Block Set Black

If someone really wants to impress me and has a modest budget, picking up some homemade jams from a quaint country town along with chocolate covered coffee beans or chocolate covered macadamia nuts will make me gush for years. And if a small country town is out of the way, a bottle of red will do just fine.

Drinks, Movies & Drinks…

It was a weekend I need a weekend to recover from.

Drinks at The Sheaf with a couple of former work colleagues, and a guy I used to hang out with, I found out of Friday night, I broke his heart?

Then off to the movies, The Departed, it was fantastic, read Cibby’s review :- ) we then headed for a drink at Fringe Bar.

Saturday started like every other day, but it was different, my Aunties birthday. I headed into Circular Quay, by public transport – no hell has not frozen over, lunch was lovely, almost 4 hours before we headed to The Rocks markets, it’s been a few years since I’ve last strolled around the markets, I think it’s still the same merchandise.

Jay joined me for a quite afternoon drink at five ways before heading to a Halloween party, a Halloween party where 90% of the party goers where in costume, the effort was impressive in decorations, costumes and alcohol consumption.

Sunday, what did I do with Sunday? Absolutely nothing that I had planned, I think slept most of the day away…

Stylin’

As many of you would be well aware by now I’m looking to purchase my first property to call my own. It’s a very long, tedious experience (I can rant for hours about fucked up real estate agents. Being one, I feel I can do it right) on a positive note I’m enjoying the amateur interior designs, the colours people pick, the obscurity of modern simplicity with French provincial and moving along to the next room that’s been influenced by Feng Shui and that Pulp Fiction poster hanging in the corner?

I do spend excessive amounts of time parading in front of vendor / tenant book, CD and DVD collections, pretending it’s just a glance, you can tell so much about people from their entertainment collection.

There are so many ideas I have stored in that little filing cabinet in the back of my brain from my many years of property inspections, what I just wouldn’t consider doing in my own apartment, those great innovative ways of creating space without the use of sleazy mirrors or Ikea’s swish bang shelving collection(not that there’s anything wrong with that). I’ve also house-sat at a few friends’ abodes over the last year and I now know the little things I take for granted at home, the very simple thing , having an easy to use cork remover, of being able to set ALL my clocks at the same time, investing in a clock that doesn’t make that godforsaken tick tick tick sound that just drives me up the wall.

When it comes to furnishings, as with every other aspect of my life I’m torn between too extremes, give me anything with a history, I love this French Armoire and equally adore this lounge room (yes, it’s from the house).

I can’t even fathom the amount of stores I’m going to enter to achieve the style I want. If it took me almost 2 years and 5 countries to find a small plain black handbag that I like, Oooohh it’s going to be a lengthy process. Ha! And I sometimes wonder why it’s taking me so long to find a property, I’ve narrowed my search selection not to waste anytime… Sorry, my dear friends you’ll have to listen to me whinge for a while longer.

I’ve already purchased some kitchen stuff; I’m totally in love with it. Plain white dinner set and stylish stainless sliver cutlery, a few bits and pieces all stainless sliver. It’s this simple style I wish to remain consistent; it complements my Czech porcelain serving platter and tea sets.

Most of my ‘free’ time these days is researching cost of bed linen, general manchester, I love rich luxurious whites, chocolate browns, all the neutrals. I haven’t even started at the electrical appliances! Plasma. Did I hear someone say plasma…?

So Nothing…

I was casually driving to a friends place last night, an invitation to dinner and cheesy T.V. On my way there I saw my last boyfriend driving in the opposite direction (he looks good), he saw me, did a double take and we both continued on our own journey’s, no different to if we hadn’t seen each other…

Road Trip

One of my consultants finally delivered his photographic genius titled “on the road to Airlie”. This was taken a few months ago driving from Mackay to Airlie Beach in sunny QLD, it’s my favourite image from the trip and we are now working together to imitate the landscaping concept and implement it in our development. A million smiles!

I was told “You can only hang it on your lounge room or toilet wall – not sell it – it’s priceless anyway” Does posting on my blog count?

A Penny for Your Thoughts?

I was invited to join my beautiful girlfriend to see The Unprofessionals on Friday night at Enmore, it was hilarious! I laughed so much my abdominals got the best work out, especially when Merrick & Rosso played an installment of Bat Leb….

My favourite installment of Bat Leb

powered by ODEO

The last episode of Bat Leb

powered by ODEO

After the show we had desert at a quaint Italian trattoria La Ricetta, on Enmore Road, talking about the show eating delicious Panna Cotta and drinking of sublime hot chocolate talking about Fag Nuts, kebabs, Bad Elmo and Roseberry being in the eastern suburbs.. Hmmm.. The quote for the night:

Do you remember that day we were Vegans?

Here’s the brief review

Saturday, I was up bright and early, unfortunately not early enough to catch the worm, I had intended to attend a boxing class at 7:30 ooops, I seldom sleep in, I guess my body needed it, I made myself a yummy brekkie watched an episode of Entourage, then headed to WBJ it’s like a vortex in there! I can’t just park go to my intended store and leave, too much time past and I found myself in JB Hi-Fi. I don’t know about anyone else but I can spend hours in there, DVD galore, CD’s I would love to add to my collection. I don’t download music, I should, Hmmm… No, I like having the cover.
I then spent most of the day in the office working on medial tasks that I just didn’t have enough time to attend to during the week and I’m sure many have noticed the recent decline of my spamming comments on your posts.

That afternoon I flopped on the lounge and watched one of the best bad movies I’ve ever seen. American Dreamz Deamz with a “Z” before getting all dressed up for the opera, Rigoletto, I took mum with me, it’s the last opera I’ll be seeing for the season, we decided, well, actually I decided we should go for a drink before hand. Opera Bar was full, not a seat in sight so with an hour and a half before the performance we sat in the Opera House lounge/bistro area and enjoyed a couple of vino’s while observing the outfits of all the opera goers.

The performance was sensational, I laughed, almost cried. For anyone who doesn’t know, Verdi is my ultimate favourite composer, you only need to listen to 30 seconds of this piece to feel the power of the music

Ordinarily I love being front row, centre. But without being able to see the sur-titles without some contortionist’s neck movement it was a little hard to follow, only having the ‘story of the opera’ for reference.

Sunday I had lunch with Dad, his partner and one of his work colleagues at Kaiser Stub'n an Austrian Restaurant in Terry Hills. The accents Kiwi, Cseky, Macedonian and Aussie (me) lots of heavy, rich food a few bottles of wine, 4 hours later…

After lunch I went to my mates house to.. get this… iron his shirts for the week, when did I turn into this woman? He broke his wrist skiing in Dubai (no matter how many times I hear that or say it, Skiing in Dubai is just wrong) somehow over our hours long conversation I agreed to go away with him for a weekend.

I wonder if I hadn’t consumed all that wine if I would’ve agreed? From crush to crash in the matter of a couple hours…
