I had one of the best weekends. Fact.
Friday my MD plonked a glass of red wine on my desk, it was approximately 2pm, by close of business there were 4 empty bottles of wine ready for recycling – not bad for a team of 5.
I wandered up to Town Hall to meet my girlfriends for a ‘quite night’. I met a girl I studied fencing with last year, it’s confirmed; the only thing we have in common is fencing. Because it was a Harry Potter movie night I invited one of my only other friends I thought would be interested in seeing the movie, I fell in love with her the first moment I met her.
We had Chinese vegetarian for dinner, Bec and I scrawled through the menu as avid a meat eaters there was a dish described as ‘meat texture and flavouring’ naturally we had to give that one a go hehehe… Next stop hot chocolate to kill some time before the movie – since when did hot chocolate cost $4.35, order and pay at counter plus it was served in a paper cup! Not impressed. I thoroughly enjoyed the latest Harry Potter movie (would’ve been better is we weren’t in the second row. We did get there 25 mins or so early to prevent it).
After the movie was drink’s time. J. my fencing friends and vegetarian admitted she didn’t drink either – I felt she looked at me as a “sex charged alcoholic meat eater” Oh the judgment in her glare. Bec and I went to Three Wise Monkeys, oh my god you need to be drunk in order to appreciate this venue! Cib’s came to pick us up and I think we’ve found a new winter local, we were on big leather seats next to an open fire drinking wine (I was) chatting away, shame the venue closed so soon.
My Saturday’s have become a routine, I get up at a nice hour, a little sleep in and of to the gym at 10 for a 2 hour sweat-fest, home, shower etc and meet a friend for lunch. This is what Saturday’s are all about, after lunch a little browse in a second handbook shop, look in a vintage clothing store, antic furniture shop and its all done to be home approximately 4pm for a relax in front of the TV before heading out for a night on the town (all the better if I can fit in a cat-nap).
The night on the town… I was dying to go to The Basement. It was a tribute to Motown music, any one that knows me is fully aware of my music taste – this venue, this music – quintessential N. My girlfriend that I’d arranged to go with pulled out last minute (no surprise there and no more invitations to her) I went through my little phone and started text messaging away ‘anyone interested’ ‘anyone free’ I was feeling so disheartened, I only know one person who would be into it 100% but it’s not a cheap night and he was working…. I was upset, started complaining that I need new friends. 2 of my newest (and the best) buddies decided to come out with me *happy dance* we started for a cheap eat at Jacksons on George, this is the first time I’ve been there sober (and early) not as skeazy as I remember. Then off to hear the beats of Motown.
The Basement was pumping, the crown fantastic I love the demographics of this joint. We were dancing to all the classics, there were a few patrons at the front of the stage ‘doing the Grape Vine’ and new most of the dance sequences to most of the songs. Such a good night, the venue closed earlier than we expected, the desire to continue partying was there, but as D. said ‘why ruin a good night’ (poor thing called me 10 minutes after I got home and she was locked out of her new apartment).
Sunday morning I was up again at the gym bright and early (early for a Sunday morning). Did the same as Saturday, rush home shower, house work and met H. for lunch, wow did time fly, we met at 1pm and then they were closing up (4pm) approached so fast. She was tempted to come shopping with me, but all I wanted was another pair of warm wooly PJ’s, to my dismay they couldn’t be found however I did bump into my sister shopping… I went home slouched on the lounge, content with a fantastic weekend. Today I look at my purse and I can not believe how much money I spent!

Miss Natalie,
I want your life!
Hee!
- I WOULD be into it. Like you don't even know... Motown/Soul is pretty much my thaaaang. It sucks to have to work.
- I heard all about the dinner conversation. Ab-sol-utely brilliant.
Wal, you know you're invited any time!
Cibby, hahaha! i knew you would know i was talking about you ;-)
A good weekend always means money, especially in Sydney!
At least you have a good time.
Don't tell me you have never been to The Dudley before!
I used to LIVE there!
Such an awesome pub and would be in my Top 5 Pubs Worldwide.
Karina, it was the BEST!
Cam, I've only been there once before, December 05 it was a friends birthday and there were too many people, no seats, ages to purchase a drink, I didn't like my firends friends and couldn't wait to get outta there. The company makes a huge difference :-)
Wasn't the new Harry Potter wonderful? I had to see it in the third row - and Ralph Fiennes slits for eyes scared the popcorn off me.
It still weirds me out that it's winter there. It's 80 degrees here (27 degrees for you), with 85% humidity and it's 11 at night.
Even the thought of fuzzy pajamas is to warm.
Sounds like one hell of a weekend!
Rosanna, I'm a closeted Harry fan - my friends don't understand me (ha, add that to my I need new friends with the same interest campaign)
Stormin, I want a job where it can be summer all year round. Sydney Oct - March and up your way (or Europe) for the rest of the time. Any ideas????
