I latch onto almost any common ground or opinion or quirk to justify my lust. At the same time, the slightest misstep will send me into a hypercritical frenzy.

I don't think I have ever been in a 'Hysterical Frenzy'...I didn't think we had to justify LUST...and if you have to justify LOVE then it isn't love at all!

Lust is great! Without lust, would there be any point to ambition? Otherwise, we'd all be on the beach, eating butter-coated potato chips and chicken wings.
Some common ground is always needed to justify lust. That's an indication you've got standards. Having standards means you won't just chase after anything that simply turns your head.
The hypercritical frenzy is just another indicator that you have standards. Very exacting standards.
In other words your lust radar has a threshold setting that is triggered by some measure of common ground, but it also has a rejection setting that makes sure you only hone in on quality targets.
This question makes my head hurt.
Just make sure he doesn't lose his mystique!
