I’ve been happy with my ‘single status’ over the last 20ish months, I believed I was until I read Indiana’s post yesterday, I realised I missed wearing a man’s jumper, I thought of last boyfriends brown ribbed jumper I loved to wear it, his subtle scent enveloping me… The emotion past until I read Mia’s post this morning. I now long for the loving touch from a man…

Having a conversation with someone the other day the conclusion was reached: that people can be happy while single, but to say they are happier while single is the statement of someone in denial, or who has not yet grown-up...humans are social creatures and the need for close companionship is as much a part of us as our arms and legs.
Great topic. I will be curious to read the comments you get back. Enjoy being single because when you're married there are certain things you can't do. Not that it's a bad thing, but being single does have its perks too.
I don't think we ever stop wanting that, whether we're happily single or not. Who doesn't want companionship and love, right?
We just ignore it or focus on other things (career/friends/social life) or get the companionship.
That's how it works in my head anyway.
There's nothing wrong with longing, Nat, and it doesn't need a statement to justify it :).
PS What happened to Sabre Boy?
I think Indy's messing with our heads and stuck a tape across warm fuzzy buttons to keep them buzzing.
Hi Natalie, jumpers and scents? Like the men they belong to, can't live with them, can't live without.
But always delightful :-)
GG
Indy, I don't think I've ever said i'm happier being single (actually when I broke up with fiancée' I may have) I've been content, even to say 100% content with being single - I know I needed it, relationships since i was 15 until Jan last year (except one month, yes 2 overlapping if you do the math) I needed to know who I am.
Maybe it's the memories? Maybe it's because on the stupid female brain at work because i spent Saturday night with a man i may actually like to spend a little more time with... I'm not going to over analyse, but i'll keep that thought in the back on my mind.
Egan, Believe me I know the perks and I've been enjoying those perks ;-)
Lucy - For a while i really did stop wanting. My priorities were on career, health and property purchase and they still are. Now it may be nice to just be open to something with someone.
Thanks ChickyBabe! Sabre Boy, well I haven't heard from him since our night together, but that was only Friday night/Saturday... Who knows if I will hear from him. Word around the camp fire: He's a womaniser and I'm a player! How would that work? It's too early to tell and hey, its only Wednesday morning ;-)
Good Girl - Yep, Indy did a job on me. can't live with them, can't live without you can live without them, for a little while anyway :-P
I wouldn't even begin to know how to mess with your heads...and as for keeping buttons buzzing, you say that like it's a bad thing ~grin~
Nat, I can always dig thru my wardrobe for a spare shirt or two, if you'd like...:)
Indy.. I like my buttons buzzed ;-)
I wouldn't even begin to know how to mess with your heads I'm sure you have in some time in your life/relationships etc...?
Scorpy - you're a tease!
You do realise the t-shirt thing only works if I'm taking it off you... yadda yadda yadda.. then wear it?
Glad to hear you're enjoying those "perks" Natalie.
so you're no longer content to be single? That wasn't long.
Argh, the lip-smacking guy in my office is eating juicy fruits and smacking away like a out-of-control lip smacking machine!
egan - I'd be crazy not to take advantage of my position ;-)
cibby - a year and a half of being single and content isn't long???
RE: lip-smacking guy, take a deep breathe, go for a walk for 15 minutes, juicy fruit looses its taste fast. If all else fails, give him 2 warning shots. into. his. head. :-P
Indy's post made me think of what it was that I missed too. But maybe it's more the idea of being in a relationship that I miss than actually being in a relationship.
Sure there are those comfortable cuddles, being cared about and caring for her. But there is the possibility however remote that the relationship will end. I've been through that twice. I'm not sure I want to go through a breakup again.
~mmmmmm~
Yes the loving touch of a man is just devine - WHEN it is the right man.
I think there's nothing that can really beat someone loving you and you loving them back - that look..ahh. But not everyone is happier in a relationship than not. I really don't believe that at all.
Yeah sometimes the best thing in the world is having that special thing not only for the big things but the little things as well
Both very excellent posts. Makes me want to believe there are good people in the world afterall.
There are times when I love being single... but more times than not I'd rather be in a relationship.
Your word choice is exquisite Natalie.
nick, but to miss out on all the good stuff on the off chance it will end? Is my cynicism rubbing off on you?
mia, so true 'when its the right man' :-)
M - experiances bring you to that conclusion? I feel the same sometimes...
Greg, i believe it's the little things that make or break the relationship ;-)
Sarah - there are some great people, just hard to sift through all the rubbish to get to them :-O
Travelling China - I think most people feel the same way as you...
Egan - I have my moments - thanks :-)
