Dead Man Walking

Press play while reading (worth it to hear Teddy for 2 seconds and, well you'll see)

I saw Dead Man Walking the opera version on Thursday last week, interesting. A man facing the death penalty turned into an opera. Actually come to think of it opera is all about love, tragedy and death. 2 boxes ticked here.

This production includes one of (in my opinion) the best operatic voices Australia has to offer, Teddy Tahu Rhodes. His voice is string, penetrating, the hairs on my arms stand on end... The casts members did their job, in saying that I wasn't sold on the entire production. I admit, I was bored.

The set was impressive to the naked eye, on closer inspection it was scaffolding, whatever does the job.

Unfortunately the house wasn't at capacity but fortunately for us we were upgraded to A class reserve. My recommendation, hire the dvd.

seems like a weird movie - opera choice. I mean, sure it has all the dramatic/emotional elements etc but still, bizarre.
