My First Pay Cheque

I’m so excited, I’m getting paid in a few days time. My first pay cheque since mid December. I’m $354.03 away from dipping into my savings, not bad considering I’ve maintained my lifestyle, purchased Christmas presents, 5 birthday presents, 2 wedding presents, a huge expensive hens night, had my car repaired, bought some great kitchenware on sale, it’s a scary feeling having so little disposable cash.

In anticipation for my first taste of money for a while I’ve already allocated my spending funds, of course I’ve dedicated money to living expenses, a bit into my ‘deposit’ savings account (I’m a sensible girl after all):

1. First stop hair dressers, $145 I haven’t had my hair done since November, my mane is too long, deshaviled ends, lots all it vitality, I can’t style it other than pulling the think locks into a pony tail and that nest I endeavour to cover my age is presenting its ugliness.

2. I’ll make an appointment with my oncologist. Yeah, yeah, I have my priorities in check, hair, then specialist... He’s really expensive! $380 for 15 minutes

3. Then, David Jones for some clinique toner $42 (I think), I ran out during January, just cleanser or soap and water have been doing justice, but I miss that really nice clean feel.

4. Followed by MeccaCosmetica. I need, yes, need more Grace Hot Salt Scrub $55. I’ve used the remnants of all my other ones – 3 sub quality scrubs have been smothered, quite generously over my body to disposed of faster. I think I have one more DYI spa day left.
5. I’ll finally buy my own Buffy the Vampire Slayer collection. I’ve borrowed seasons 1 – 3 from friends, last time I saw any Buffy was on TV years ago. I remember how much I love it, I just have to have my own set. If anyone knows where to get the collectors edition seasons 1 - 7 for less than $320 please let me know (if online, postage approx $30, then I'll consider time etc).

* Next month I may look at buying Angel :-)

6. I’m going to buy a nice bottle of wine, I adore our cheap Aussie wine, I’m pleasantly surprised by a good drop for under $10 but I’m quivering at the thought of my first sip of Saltram approx $34

7. Now that I’m working in the Big Bad City and I’m between the collection of clothes I have i.e old suits I can’t do up and my skirts I bought last year hanging off me in the most undesirable, unflattering ways, I’ll look for a decent crisp white shirt, I’ve never been comfortable in ‘shirts’ or ‘blouses’ its just not my style. But I’ll look for one, a shirt is said to be a staple in every womans wardrobe.

8. I’m going to order a cocktail next time I’m out partying. There’s a fast $18 - $20 down.

9. Pay my parking fine $179 for parking outside my own house!

Hurry March 31st!!!!!

First things first, I always have to do the exchange rate in my head when reading non-US blogs...

I hope that there is an Aussie word for oncologist that isn't the American word for oncologist. Here that's a cancer specialist. (But the pay rate sounds right...)

$20 for a drink? Suddenly Steph's friend with the $200 date minimum isn't so damn crazy.

rule of thumb from US to AU, knock off 25%

Cancer specialist he is. He's the best of the best. If i can spend hundreds of shoes and handbags i can surly spend same on my health ;-)

$20 a cocktail i don't blink in eye lash. But I have HUGE issues about paying $3.30 for my morning coffee (now down to $2 with a few happy morning greetings) That's Sydney for you... $200 for dinner is easy spent, the expectation. Different story.

I'm pretty sure Amazon has it for under $200, and if not, I think the individual season box sets are $20 a pop -- who needs any Buffy season past #3, anyway?

Oh i so need to do this - I'm so broke lately (although I've been working full time - i'm just terrible with money) and i too need my hair done, need my clinque moisturiser and could do with drinking something other than Vodka & Cranberry juice!!! haha

malnurtured snay: yep, already checked Amazon, it will be AU$290 approx plus postage - not really worth it. Seasons 1 - 3 are my favorite :-)

Scorps, my hair dresser is cheap. the one 'up the road' that my mother goes to charges $265.

Del, at least you're enjoying vodka - my drink of choice has been water. Do a list. It helps

Apparently, commenting on your blog is as hard as flying to the moon on a banana peel. Blogger *hates* me. I have to adjut all these settings just to access this glorious little commenting box.

Hello, commenting box! Oh, how I have missed thee.

What I love most about this post is that your parking fine was LAST in order of importance. And a hair cut was totally first! Miss Natalie, you are a women after my own heart.

The first thing I did when I got home from Europe (EVEN before I saw my mum and dad) was get a hair cut. My hair actually felt like dead straw. Only worse.

I fully expect a full account of your new hair do.

I must say purchasing Christmas presents in March is very sensible.

You can really talk the local merchants down, on say, tinsel.

I buy all my Easter candy the Monday after Easter, and just tell my nieces and nephews the Easter bunny died but his dying declaration--a causa mortis, if you will--was that they get even more candy than last year.

What were all those photos that aren't coming up?

I hope it wasn't something important, like you taking your top off or something.

hmmm, if you can wait, I can bring you Buffy from China - it'd be way way way less than $300...

2. WTF?! I am SERIOUSLY in the wrong business...

3. Pick me up some Loreal menexpert while you're in there ;)

4. $55 to rub salt in?? Refer (2)

5. I've got one word to say to you Natalie. Bit Torrent. OK so that's two words. I don't care. I. DON'T. CARE!!!

6. Since I can get $35 bottles for $10... or free... I often wonder what it's like to buy one!!! LOL

7. Please, try the shirt. :)

8. Do it! Something with a cube of dry ice in it, if possible...

9. Bastards!!! I don't pay 'em... I fight 'em. I waste hours, and hours of my valuable time and stress... on fighting them. Yes. I am an idiot. Complete, and utter...

Rosanna, Ohh yes i must look into the commenting issue. Soon, but please don't leave me :-)

The parking fine may wait until the second reminder.

I can't wait for my hair cut, i may get a treatment too. actually i may buy a DYI one before i go so i don't get told off by my hairdresser.

Mez - aren't they just, all spent before its even in the hands.

cBabe - i'm all out! Have been for a couple months :-(

Zen, no no chrissie presents bought after retrenchment, if i had more storage space i would buy gifts at the half years clearance sales :-) the photos are of the items i want to buy - i don't know what my blogger issue is but my images seem to disapear.

Cibby, i can't wait! I need to see the rest of the series NOW! I may still give you an order hehehe

Cazzie!!! Clinique is a mid range brand, Dior is fantastic for sensitive skin but it comes with the price tag

G_Boy, i wont cut it too much, like the bridge photo last week (that was 4 years ago).

I go to the best of the best, hence the expense. Just a check up :-)

i would, but how do i get it to you? i likey, you look after your skin :-)

the salt scrub is so beautiful, ive tried mixing my own and it doesnt work

Bittorrent. But but but i like the pretty covers and the boxes...

free vino? how bout a deal i buy you loreal manexpert and you give me bottle of SA wine????

i'll try a shirt, its really not me, next you'll say 'wear pantyhose' blegh!

i don't like the chances of dry ice babes

i'll pay it, i tried disputing one and i was wacked with an extra $40 late fee then $50 (i think) because i missed the date grrrr
