What You Talkin' 'bout Willis?

I’m feeling old; a friend asked ‘who’s Alf?’

I Still have my talking Alf doll

So I trawled through my old emails and found one with the below pictures. I have such found memories and wow, how daggy we once were. How great was it.

I remember having ruffle skirts, singing to MC Hammer even doing the ‘Hammer Dance’ I could (still can) recite all the lyrics to Ice Ice Baby. I had a side pony tale, occasionally with crimped hair... I even have a photo with wearing the ruffle skirt, crimped hair and I was holding a rubik’s cube that I had skilfully completed 3 sides.

I played with skipping ropes, played elastics, played hopscotch and climbed trees.

I had a crush on Raphael the TMNT, even to the extent of having a TMNT birthday cake; yes there is photographic evidence.I loved NKOTB and Bon Jovi. I sang (poorly) to various Madonna, Bangles and Cyndi Lauper songs. General_Boy knows a little secret about Bon Jovi and me ;-)

I remember rushing to get home to watch Duck Tails and The Fresh Prince. How innocent we all were…

I love reminiscing the good old days, where things were simpler and the only hardship we faced was whether I’d have a ‘movie party’ a ‘bowling party’ or attend a friends Cabbage Patch doll birthday party. Unbelievably so, I still have my cabbage Patch dolls. They are so ugly.

I was jealous of a friend that had 2 Hypercolor T-shirts, I didn't have one

I had many of these 'friendship bands' and I loved making them
I was a Cool Cat, I had a pair of LA Gears, complete with the key ring

What do the kids of today have?

My dude Calvin sung a song about this - it's called "Acceptable in the 80's"...

Cabbage Patch Dolls ruled. How dare you call them ugly... :o)

This blog post was pretty much the best.

I used to wear leggings, tie-die tshirts, runners AND read the babysitters club.

Coolest kid in school? Absolutely.

Ant, they are ugly! Not cute at all.

I think everything was acceptable in the 80's but they should all stay there, except some of the music ;-)

Rosanna, i never got into the babysitters club but most of friends read them.

Indy, how old was she?

oh my god I loved my cabbage patch doll so much (gloria veronica) - but ended up selling her at a garage sale we had - when I was about 16. Is it wrong to want her back now? My dad used to call her 'ugly face'.

Mez, my dolls name Rosemary. They will be a collectors item. I can't bring myself to give her away.
