Today is the office Christmas party. This is the office that made my position redundant. This is the office that said; no we don’t want her working for us any longer…
It’s a lunch. I’ve agreed to attend only because there are a couple of my ‘former colleagues’ coming from Mackay to be here and I would like to see them. Oh, and we are going to Golden Century Restaurant, I’ve never been and really want to.
I’m still not 100% if I should attend.

I wouldn't attend...but since you will want a nice reccomendation, you probably should.
i know its difficult, but i wouldn't take the retrenchment too personally. you know they've had a lot of financial problems for months now.
its a great restaurant, enjoy the food and the opportunity to say a proper goodbye, and remember its good to not burn bridges and keep good contacts in your industry!
I would go, and like Vikki said, I wouldn't take it personally. It's not as if you were escorted out of the premises when they told you.
I'd also keep contacts and show a professional side to everyone. they can only speak well of you.

Yeah, I'd go along. My momma always says, if you have to part, part well.
Besides, you never know when you'll need them in future and it keeps the professional side up.
Depends if they are paying for the meal or not ...
