Interviews Week 1 (hopefully of few)

I had my first job interview on Monday with the only recruitment consultant I can bare to be in the same room, it must’ve been the most unprofessional meeting ever. The initial ‘I didn’t think I’ll be seeing you for at least another 3 years’, ‘your dress is so pretty’, back by ‘I love your suit’, general fashion overseas, ‘you’re a lady of leisure’ etc…’I have something you would be perfect for EA for a developer’.

Interview set Tuesday at Double Bay, I thought went all right, I never know with these things. I was probably too cocky, it was an EA position, in other words I think its below me, but it was paying well and local. 2 major facets of the business the agency practice which is commercial/retail sales and leasing and the property development, mostly backpacker hostels and hotel refurbishment – that’s what I’m interested in.

Feedback: ‘we are looking for someone with more retail/commercial leasing experience’. Well considering I’ve never had any real estate commercial /retail experience why the fuck was I put forward? Fucking waste of time!

Thursday interview with a recruitment consultant, I just have to make a point of saying recruitment consultants should not be allowed to be cute, I was fighting my urge to flirt. This is not the preferred manner I wish to present myself. Hehehehe…

Feedback from consultant: this position sounds like what you’ve been doing, I have a feeling it won’t be challenging for you – let me make that fucking decision!

Well it looks like this employment journey is going to be interesting and long, that’s what I get exiting the industry working for the best and taking a minor change.

On a positive note I had a serendipitous phone call, a guy from *insert company name* he had my details from 3 jobs ago, wanting to arrange a meeting to discuss some new products… Hmmm… I asked many questions, he asked me to come in on Monday and see if he can place me somewhere. Mostly sales orientated (I hate sales) but the consultants are spoon fed leads, there’s only the conversion. Ha! Easy! *snap*

A follow on from last weeks little Saturday job, a 2 hour open house inspection. I have another lined up on Wednesday, things are okay, I have to keep telling myself that. I finish one job on Tuesday and I have work on Wednesday, I shouldn’t stress… Deep breathes.

well it sounds to me like you are out doing the hard yards Natalie.

Crossing fingers for you. :)

Just keep trying, Nat, and don;t be put off by anything they say. If you think you're right for a role, challenge them. I'm on the other end of this, and the candidates they send don't fit anything we're looking for!

I'm impressed with how hard you've been working to stay afloat. This won't last long, you'll be out of your mom's in no time :)

Completely selfishy I rather like you as a lady of leisure, Mme Nat, especially the longer posts.

Now to find a way for you to remain so situated without starving.

Thanks GB

CB, I'll get there, I'm not too worried (today)

Sarah, my redundacny package takes effect from my last day working. They offered for me to stay - so i did.

Wombat - yes! My posts are longer, who'd have thought? Beleive me, if there was a way for me to go to pilates and tennis lesson each day with a 3 hour brunh with firends i'd do it ;-)

Zen - EA is an executive assistant, a nice wat of saying personal assistant (i did my research and i have a qualification more than him too) so in your face mister employer!
