The Christmas Party

I attended yesterday, I wanted to go out with a little class, I wanted to see my QLD colleagues, try the food and really my MD would be more uncomfortable than me...

The lunch at Golden Century was spectacular, started with peeking duck, steamed dim sim (that I didn’t have, who knows whats in those) steamed oysters, the best oysters I think I’ve ever had, duck san chow bow. 2 huge mud crabs, one salt and pepper the other ginger and shallots, rainbow trout and crispy skin chicken all toped off with yummy fruit platter complemented through out with too many bottles of wine.

I went for the food.

Over lunch I was generally quite, I usually am wen I’m in a large group of people that I don’t feel comfortable around (I know a couple of you may disagree now that we’ve met face to face). Luckily I was next to ex-colleague from QLD, what a laugh, he’s such a great entertaining guy, its kinda a shame we didn’t work closer, I spoke to his wife more, fun chatter box she is!

I had fully intended to leave straight after lunch, but no, I stayed, drinks at The Loft Bar and I enjoyed the company of the new girl* and the QLD-ers like I said I would oh, and another glass of wine and port…

I’ve been invited to crash up in Mackay, see what the town has to offer in way of employment opportunities, there’s a lot of development up there, you know what, I may just do that – get away from this sorry excuse of a Sydney summer for a while!

I left by 7pm a great excuse being “I have to feed and walk the dog!”
Trick on me was, all that seafood and alcohol.. yea.. Another work Christmas party tonight, I’m her date.

*I did say new girl, they employ one person and get rid of me. I’m also the third person to be shown the door in less than 3 months.

Yummo!!!

Well, plenty of development going on in tinytown, where we have *proper* summer. ;)

You'd pick up a job here in a flash...
assuming you could handle the breakneck pace... LOL

I would have not gone but rung the restaurant that day and told them that we had to cancel, therefore when everyone turned up - there would be NOTHING there LOL but that's just me!
Take the Mackay job but I can't see you surviving without Opera, Plays ands the great restaurants. MacKay isn't even close to what Sydney's Eastern Suburbs can provide but it is close to a lot of single guys that work out in the mines and have a LOT of cash to expend. Plus it is only three hours from my place :)

There is a lot happening in Mackay at the present with the coal industry booming the way it is. I'm not very fond of Mackay, having lived there for a while and I visited it frequently over the years from when I was a child. But you could very well like it. The best part is Eungella and some of the beaches. The town itself does little for me...but, that's just my opinion and it's probably not worth much! It would be a good adventure for you, though...and I'm all for adventures! :) I lived on an island just north of Mackay for while...that was good!

FFS, don't listen to Generalboy, you'd wilt and die in a place like that.
Hang in there girl. Good things will come to you.xx
