Why are you surprised?
It is the oldest commodity on the market, and as long as there is a demand for it, and it is something not readily available, people will pay for it.
If people will pay for it, there are those who will try to profit from it.
Do you really think Australia would be immune to this and it was only something that happened in Asia and Africa?
I hear about it in the US as well, girls from South America and Eastern Europe paying off theri debts.
I'm a little naive when it comes to Asia and Africa, I don't hear the news from the region I guess it doesn't surprise me.
I just like to think that citezens down under aren't that way inclined.
